My HTPC build is driving me INSANE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had TV AND RADIO all setup and working perfectly in MP a few weeks ago then I had to re-format my machine as a backup image I had failed and I had to sort out issues with codecs.

Anyway, now I have re-installed all my software, spent 2 days sorting out damn stupid codecs and am just getting MP setup for TV and Radio.... Tv works great (digital) but I cannot get the FM part working again.

I try and do a scan on either of the analogue tuners for FM stations but get "This card does not support FM radio"....

Oh yes it does. FM works perfect through winamp, I just want it in MP.

I tried manually adding stations (which is how i did it last time) and entering in the frequency then mapping to one of my analogue tuners(either one) but when I go into MP and choose the station I get "cannot timeshift, channel not mapped to a card"....

That's funny because the TV server says that it is???

I have tried the latest SVN but that didn't work, it just deleted all my config and I get the same result.....

Anybody have any ideas what the heck could be the issue? It is seriously one thing after another!!! It all seemed to work so well in the start. What is the prob this time round???????????????????:mad:

Someone help me before I throw this HTPC project in the bin!

Nope...

The card I purchased had only drivers and very basic viewing software for "testing" to make sure the card works. Last time I set it all up I just installed the drivers, installed Media Portal software, configured and it all worked.

The one thing that I had done though was install media portal (not tv server) then un-install that and install the TV server and MP RC1...

That surely couldn't be the problem though? I have just un-installed the entire media portal and server from my PC as well as the SQL database and am installing all over again incase there was something in the whole setup...

I have seriously been plauged for the past month with so many issues with my HTPC that it is starting to take over my life and i'm just tired.... It's not fun anymore :(

Time to step back and get on with real life :), honestly, it ain't that important.

Never try configuring MP without the TV service of choice being done first.

Indeed sometimes I need to take 5 and I don't work on my HTPC much as I just don't have the time that's why when I need to get things sorted out I don't like spending hours at a time to solve one small issue. There is no one to blame for this, certainly not the devs of the software so I am not having a go at anyone, it's just frustrating sometimes and late nights don't help ;)

Anyway, I have made some progress here...

It would seem that a software MPEG 2 encoder was needed even for the radio to work (I assume because MP timeshifts radio as well).

There was another thread here (that I can't find ATM) with someone who had the EXACT same issue and card as me. Their problem seemed to be that they did not have an MPEG2 encoder installed.

I have installed the Cyberlink MPEG encoder as per the MP recommendation and I now get analog TV channels, FM radio and my composite ports work BUT....

The viewing quality is really bad when in a window. Full screen is ok, but there ate interlacing lines that are really bad when viewed in a preview window. Also, recording is average. The other issue is that the diisplayed video is about 2-3 seconds behind the live feed. I know there will be some delay but that is quite a delay. Any other encoder I can try or is there some way to tweak this one a bit more other than just in MP?
