DVDFreak... I'm lost, sorry... Can you point me in some sort of direction to even look? I looked in the grabber folder under mediaportal but that doesn't look like it has all of the shows. I use schedulesdirect, does that change anything? I looked at the config of mp and the location for tvguide.xml is under the xmltv folder in the mp folder. However, the only two files are a readme.txt and a xmltv.dtd. The dtd does not contain all the shows either. It looks like a template of some sort. Thanks for any ideas/assistance!

I have the web interface working, just no guide for the web or console. So far it looks like it has a lot to offer.

well I did some searching and didn't come up with any ideas for scedules direct, so I tried XMLTV. Download the zip file ran the exe to generate and xml file and go data in the console and web base side of things. Only problem is neither of them is telling mp to record or sending the scheduled recording to mp.

Can I put "North Carolina" in the description box and it will record whatever show has "North Carolina" in the description?

Yes it will.

All the rules you see in the Edit Schedule panel can be combined to make as simple or as complex a schedule as you want. Just to give an example, it would be easy for you to set up: record all programs with "North Carolina" in the description on channel X, Y or Z and only when the program starts in primetime between 8pm and 22pm.

The "interface" between TV Scheduler and MediaPortal is the TVE3 plugin. Do you have that configured correctly? As long as that is not set up, there will be no synchronization of schedules.

oh crap! I thought tve3 plugin was only needed if you were using tve3. I'm using media portal 0.2.3. It is still compatible, correct? Well, now your going to make me wait 9 hours until I get home from work to play now! Thanks alot! ;) Also Playing around with the console and web epg, I have one request, make the episode title have a drop down list or heck all of them have a drop down list. My previous request will not work because North Carolina is in the episode title, not description. Can you use wild cards in those fields? Thanks for your help!!

Seems resonable infinityloop, stable release point should come before new features at the present time. But does the team see dvdfreaks work integrated in the long run? And are steps being made, som the two structures will be able to function together? I mean, is there a positive take on the TVScheduler inside the team?

I remember reading a discussion earlier on regarding the subject, but without a clear conclusion.

I hope you understand the questions in the spirit they are intended. I mean, the positive opensource, lets get better together spirit. you know...
atm. we focus on the "close future" tasks which are MP 1.0 and TV-Server 1.0 (Summer release is realistic imo.).
after that we will see about the future of TV-Server.

so no, there are no plans yet about merging/using dvdfreak's extension, simply because its way too far away. :)

Well, I'm afraid the TVE3 plugin is indeed only for when you use TVE3, so the bad news is: TV Scheduler does not (currently) support MediaPortal 0.2.3 without TVE3. But if anyone wants to port the TVE3 plugin to work with MP stand-alone, the C# source is available (I posted it to this thread).

Regarding your other question: partial text is only possible for the program title and the description, not in the episode title. Do you really think this is useful? I could potentially add this but you would be the first to request it :)

I would think adding this small change would make this an even greater feature. I can't believe no one else has asked for this, I've seen a lot of people asking for a "wishlist" feature in MP.

    1. You enter keywords ie - North Carolina or Cleveland Indians (you can do actor, director, title description, all sorts of things)
    2. With every update the TiVo software scan the epg's titles and description for keywords you've entered and automatically records them.

The way your scheduler is setup, with that small addition, you'd basically give everyone on here that's asked for the "wishlist" feature to MP what they want. You already have the option of actors, directors, and categories like TiVo. The only thing TiVo does different is searches the title by "contains" not "equal to" for their "wishlist" feature.

On to my problem now, how stable is TVE3? Does the TVE3 still record in mpg format? Thanks for your help DVD!

Perhaps you misunderstood me, TV Scheduler already does exactly what you describe here: search in titles and descriptions (you can select "Starts with", "Equals" or "Contains" for titles). Only the actual episode title (if there is one) needs to be an exact match.

No, I think I read you right, I just suggested you make the episode title "contains" instead of "equal to" and that would allow us to basically have the same wishlist feature that is in TiVo. Most sports in the US don't have a description sometimes and the teams are almost always in the episode title. If you change that to a drop down field, you could virtually do everything with this that the wishlist feature does for tivo. Now lets say I wanted to automatically all UNC games. I'd set up a schedule with the program title "College Basketball". Now that lists every college basketball in the epg. How can we narrow that down to only record UNC, put in the episode title "contains North Carolina" and that would give us every North Carolina game on any channel at any time. if you leave it as equal to, you'd have to go through and manually record every game like I do now. Does that make any sense?
