No, I think I read you right, I just suggested you make the episode title "contains" instead of "equal to" and that would allow us to basically have the same wishlist feature that is in TiVo. Most sports in the US don't have a description sometimes and the teams are almost always in the episode title. If you change that to a drop down field, you could virtually do everything with this that the wishlist feature does for tivo. Now lets say I wanted to automatically all UNC games. I'd set up a schedule with the program title "College Basketball". Now that lists every college basketball in the epg. How can we narrow that down to only record UNC, put in the episode title "contains North Carolina" and that would give us every North Carolina game on any channel at any time. if you leave it as equal to, you'd have to go through and manually record every game like I do now. Does that make any sense?

Yes! :)

I'll see what I can do ;)

UPDATE ALERT

I just uploaded a new release! A more complete version of the web frontend is included with a brand new "real" EPG timeline view for the TV Guide.

Release 1.0.11.0 (January 9th, 2007)

Changes since the previous release:

 • Changed Web Access TV Guide to a time-line EPG view. Clicking the channel name or logo shows the view that was used before.
 • Two new rules to record programs with episode titles that contain or start with a certain text.
 • Added new service method to support channel logos. There is a new "Channel Logos" directory in the installation directory of the service where you can copy high-quality logos of your channels. These will then be shown in the Web Access EPG.
 • Added AuthenticationEnabled setting to WebAccess, default set to True.
 • Tweaked "Waiting..." indicator in Web Access, now only appears when postbacks take longer than 300ms.
 • Upcoming programs list now displays program times in a clearer format. Shows program details in a popup when you click the title.
 • Fixed the management console to work over Terminal Services (Remote Desktop).
 • Web Access now fully supports cultures that use AM/PM times.
 • Implemented Recordings panel in Web Access.
 • Some other visual tweaks to Web Access.
PS: if you are using the TVE3 plugin, stop the TVService, install new TV Scheduler, copy over the new TVE3 plugin DLLs, and then restart TVService and make sure the plugin is enabled.

Are you kidding me? That quick? You better be careful DVD, People will start expecting unreal expectations! ;) Great work, I'm going to download it and try it out... I have been reading up on tve3 and it doesn't look that stable, what version are you using and how stable is it? I have a great setup now and that's the last thing I want to do is break it!

On to my problem now, how stable is TVE3?

That is also one of my main questions, how stable is the TV-server atm....and what are the main issues...

As I understand it, this alternative for the scheduler is every MP-users wet dream! If it is, it really is a big shame it's not picked up by the dev team (does anyone know the reason for this?) as the scheduler in Mediaportal is unreliable, has minimal functionality (missing a lot of usefull functions) and parts are unlogical or contain errors.

So after yet another scheduled recording failing tot record (sometimes this happens for no apparant reason), I'm really starting to get fed up with the standard scheduler in MP.

So I would LOVE to start using TVscheduler, but I can't at the moment because I only run Mediaportal. I want to switch over to MP tv-server, but only if it doesn't take days to set up and if it's also usable for my girlfriend. And that is only the case when it's reliable, otherwise she will not accept switching and learning how it works again.

We've had conflicts about modern-day TV watching before, and I don't want to be forced to say "sorry love, I can't get it to work after all these hours of trying"
That would be the last straw for her and she would want to switch back to analog tv, with an old videorecorder on the side, because that is where our discussion is at the moment (mainly because of the unreliable tv section in MP). If MP tv-server is a step back in reliability, fat chance she'd accept it... :(

If noone else wants to pick this up, I may have to look at converting my TVE3 plugin to a MediaPortal 0.2.3 plugin.

It should certainly be fairly easy to do this actually, just some time and obviously testing needed. But perhaps there is someone on the forum here with the necessary skills? Preferably also someone who actually still runs MP 0.2.3 so it would be easy for him or her to test the plugin.

I can easily provide up-to-date source code for the TVE3 plugin.

I tried it out DVD!! Awesome! Everything like I tried to explain...

One question, does the "only new recodings" go by the history. Just wondering, I noticed when I was playing around that the repeats of CSI weren't taken out and I figured you went by what has been recorded or viewed I guess.

Wish I could help you out on the plug-in... I have no idea what I'd be doing though, I'm just one of the pesky guys that want want want... ;)

Thanks again DVD!!

No, it should also remove repeats in the future. The algorithm looks both forward and backwards (using the history) into time.

Is the problem both present in the management console and in Web Access? Is it reproducable for me? Something subtle must be wrong so that TV Scheduler does not see the repeats as duplicates... Perhaps post a screenshot?

Ah, man... I wish I had the knowledge (and girlfriend  ) to write the code for this plugin. :sorry:
If the heat of the discussion between my girl and I settles down a bit I could be able to test it, but not for the moment :D
I guess I've tried, tested, restarted, updated, downgrated, installed, removed and fiddled around with it (without complete success) a bit too much for her likings... But...I, and MP on my side, will prevail! :D

dvd, I don't have the web access setup, I just tried the console. Here are the steps I took

1. Changed program to contains and entered csi
2. Clicked the "new episodes"

After posting I noticed it was removing one or two of the repeats but not all of them and there are tons of csi repeats on another channel called spiketv.

End the episode titles match exactly? Could you send me your XMLTV file so I can try and reproduce this?
