Hi,
I have an issue with fotos and their rotation.
Even though they are correctly rotated in preview of Mediaportal's Pictures, they do not show correctly rotated when I select them to show full screen.
I have tried to turn on and off the Mediaportal Configuration for Pictures - "use EXIF information ..." but no effect.
The pictures are taken with a CANON EOS 500D and show properly within XnView.

Do you have an idea what else I can try to show it correctly?

    Hmm, I have a Canon 500D and MP shows them correct (instead of Windows Explorer, which does not read the EXIF Tags for rotation! *gr*).

    As requested, please find attached screenshots of how it is rotated in preview and not rotated in full screen.
    Furthermore, the settings in MediaPortal configuration.
    Attachments are from 2 different cameras.

    It might have something to do with picture count, size in folders as some fotos appear now rotated in fullscreen.
    But it doesn't matter if I let load MP the preview or not.
    It seems like browsing fast to a picture doesn't let mediaportal load the EXIF information correctly.
    609 pictures in the folder
    1,31 GB
    1,59 GB (including movies)

    The path structure of the pictures are:
    F:\fotos\2011_Fotos31_Hawaii\2_Kauai

    Please also try to regenerate the thumbs. The size & amount of pictures should be no problem, I have almost 30.000 pictures utilizing something north of 250GB. A last thing: Does MP read the EXIF Data (F3 on a picure)?

    The screenshots makes it more clear what your problem is. But supplying logs would still be more helpful:
    MediaPortal Forum - Announcements in Forum : Installation, configuration support

    This way it should be more likely to figure out if it is a bug in the EXIF reader or in the fullscreen pictureviewer code.

    Posting one of the actual pictures would also be good. Zip it if you want to be sure the forum won't mangle the info.

    Mark

    I already added 2 pictures above.
    attached the logs.
    EXIF info looks fine for me (attached).

    to regenerate the thumbs is just to delete them in the thumbs folder and enter again the picture folder and wait until it loaded everything?

    I think it has something to do with the fact I added a lot of pictures. However, is it necessary then to scan fotos/generate thumbs before I watch them?

    Well, currently I am regenerating the thumbs via Mediaportal configuration.

    The interesting part here is:

    Code:
    2011-09-15 05:49:57.890625 [Debug][PoolThread16(16)]: Picture.GetRotateByExif = 0 for F:\fotos\2011_Fotos31_Hawaii\3_Big Island\IMG_4615.JPG
    2011-09-15 05:49:58.078125 [Debug][PoolThread16(16)]: GUIPictures: Creation of missing thumb successful for F:\fotos\2011_Fotos31_Hawaii\3_Big Island\IMG_4615.JPG
    2011-09-15 05:49:59.546875 [Debug][PoolThread16(16)]: PictureDatabaseSqlLite: Added to database - F:\fotos\2011_Fotos31_Hawaii\3_Big Island\IMG_4616.JPG

    Code:
    2011-09-15 05:50:31.906250 [Debug][PoolThread16(16)]: Picture.GetRotateByExif = 1 for F:\fotos\2011_Fotos31_Hawaii\3_Big Island\IMG_4643.JPG

    Code:
    2011-09-15 05:50:39.562500 [Debug][PoolThread17(17)]: Picture.GetRotateByExif = 3 for F:\fotos\2011_Fotos31_Hawaii\3_Big Island\IMG_4647.JPG

    The value should mean:
    /// 0 = no rotate
    /// 1 = rotate 90 degrees
    /// 2 = rotate 180 degrees
    /// 3 = rotate 270 degrees

    Please check if these pictures are rotated correctly. A last idea might be, EXIF contains 8 rotation settings, MP just 4. The other EXIF ones are mirrored (see Exif Orientation Page for a good vizualization). MP ignores the mirrored ones, so we need to check the real value in your files. Could you attach one that is giving you trouble, please? Also check if the ones mentioned above are OK.

    EDIT: Just seen that you already added pics - sorry, my fault...
