If you buy a genuine MicroSoft remote, you will get the blasters included. The blasters are tiny (about 5mm) dark red buds that you stick on the device you want to control and the other end of the lead from the bud has a small "phono plug" that plugs into the back of the IR receiver. The IR receiver then plugs into the PC via a USB connection.

The suppliers you have contacted may not be aware that there are two buds included in the package?

Are you able to purchase the blasters separately? Where do they plug into on the PC?

No, I very much doubt that they could be purchsed separately

They don't plug directly into the PC - they plug into the back of the MCE receiver, which in turn, plugs into a USB port.

I finally went to the local computer shop today and purchased a mce remote, and imagine my suprise when i find that it DID come with the IR blasters.

Computer shops should really learn about the products they are selling. I had to explain to the staff what they were and how they worked.

I believed you Taipan, thats why i went into the local computer shop and asked to have a look at the remote.

Now i need to find a capture card that will allow me to hook the foxtel into the pc. Anyone have any suggestions on which one to use? Would prefer to get away with not spending too much.

I don't have any personal experience with foxtel connecting to MediaPortal, but from what I have read, you need a card that has hardware encoding on the video input - software encoding cards require a pretty beefy PC to give stutter-free capture.
