Every time I have media portal running OK
But then at the sudden it freezes.
Many times with a black screen only showing the mouse cursor but no response at all.

Taskmanager tells MP stopped responding.

I added two log files.

One from a situation when playing shoutcast and trying to start a search for station.

The other one was after video play.

THis really is something that I naver have seen with RC2

Any idea's what could cause this?

I also experience freezing, if it happens it's right after starting a video. Sound will play for a few seconds and then I just have a black screen and i cannot stop the video.

Yhat also sometimes happens.
But This is not only with video play back that I experience this.

I cannot remember I had similar experience with RC2.

But ever since I switched to RC 3 this happens ofthe more then once a day.

I can say this is not to good for the WAF;)

Two more logs from the freezing media portal.

I also included an error log that has quite some entries:confused:

This was when navigating to search in shoutcast directory.
Not even got the popup to enter search term.

I've had good luck since switching to EVR.

Configuration (Expert Mode) > DirectShow Filter Control > Video Renderer Settings > EVR

Hi I have tried switching to EVR before for speed reasons, but had stability problems that time. so I switched back. (There is a warning for stability risk there as I recall?)

I am also worried about the number of error messages I got in the log.

i have had this issue enough times since building my htpc but all the time i found it to be codec issues... powerdvd 8 codecs without h/w acceleration fixed this for me

hi crazyfool,:D

I can imagine a codec could create a hang situation.
But I recall at least one situation where the running action just continued.
I do not recall if it was movie os shoutcast.

I hoped to get some response on the log files I attached becaus every time I got a request for logfiles when I had a question. And now I added the logfiles but got no clue based ont those files as far as I know.

So I am still hoping for some help

I had freezing occurring when starting to watch a recorded file, especially if live TV was still on. The problem in my case seemed to come down to different video codecs had been setup for live tv and movies/video. Putting them both to the PowerDVD8 codec has solved the issue with me. Might not be your issue, but may be worth checking.

Hi Wowski,

THanks for the suggestion.

I will sure have a look again which codecs I installed.
I am not using live TV anyway so that conflict will not occur for me.

I am trying to have my MP setup constantly running and avoid using more that one function for some time to see if that could lead to a clue.

Atually I am just watching AVI's this week and the system did not freeze in two days.

Next I will probably be playing only DVD or so Or only use it for shoutcast \

Actually those are the 3 main functions for using MP at this moment
