I have make a little FTP server http://www.electronic-sport.ch/mymediaportal/ , with lot of files, that u need, that MP running without problems. Its a little test. Lot of people search files, topics , have problems, use the false software, etc, so I think, make a site, where the people find all files, that needed for MP. Not everybody is a PC crack, or a programmer or...

So on the site u will find only Free- or Shareware. When I see, the people use the site, we make it better, with more information, more links, etc.
I hope, other user will help, with files and stuff. Maybe someone is familiar with homepage design and coding?
    Mail to crash@electronic-sport.ch

Maybe, a site like this is not needed? I dont know, I will see.

When someone has better english then me (think a lot of people...), so I can make the page in german, and someone can translate to english.

Tell me your feedback, positiv and negativ.

    Thx

    complete install

Why doesn't somebody take on the work making an ultimate package. One click install.
The MP can then be run under a perfect environment.

    Like;
    1. Install XP
    2. Tweak XP to the MAX.
    3. Install ALL necessary codecs. - One click.
    4. Install MP
    5. Install Every plugin you want from one huge updated package.

Is this a lot of work, possible, or allowed (GPL)
I don't know how, but I shure know I would appreciate it.

    Anyone?

    Re: complete install

I think this would be impossible. First of all xp isn't free software so you would have to sign a deal with microsoft in order to distribute it, and i am not sure they would be happy with someone changing their distribution.
Tweaking xp is something that is dependant on what hardware you have in the computer. So basically you would have to have an incredible amount of different configurations for different computers in order to get the tweaks working.
All neccessary codecs - that is basically what ffdshow does, so you already have a working solution there :)
Plugin packs for mp would be possible if someone would find the time to write them...

Hope this answers some of your questions.

(By the way great site crash!)

    /Peter

    See your point there.

First, i didn't mean one click like in boot'n go.

    Impossible to batch. (Guide? needed?)

Install XP. - Use Your licence, and cd-rom.
    Run XP-lite or something.

    Possible to batch.

1.Make an installationfile that installs the codecs you need.
No need to code new routines.
    Mpeg codecs
Install ir-transmitter software or change remote.ini to make Hauppaguework with MP. (two different schemas)
    Batchinstall plugins.

Make windowsxp into Mediaportal in a few steps.

thx, nice to hear that :D

I added today some new sections, some useful and important files and links. Have a look to the System section, but think most of them are only for new MP User's ;)

about the batch file, I dont think, thats a really good idea, a lot of people dont use all the stuff, why to have install files, that u dont need it? (hope understand my english)
