I find it very inefficient that WebEPG updates the same data over and over. For example if you request 7 days data and you run the updater automatically every day, it updates the first six days again!

It seems to me that Day_Offset could easily be used to do this. Right now, it offsets the number of days before you grab the data, but it inputs it in the EPG (TVguide.xml) starting on the current day. This is useful for those sites that need to defer a day to get the correct data, so I don't want to change that, but I think it could have an option which date to put in the TVguide.xml file.

I know James has told me some sites don't support the Day_Offset, so this would have to be an option, and would not work for everyone, but I thought it might be a help to many people.

If you think it is a good idea, please respond to this poll and maybe we can encourage James to add this feature.

Thanks James, for the great program!

    Hi

I use WebEPG to get EPG information from the Radio Times XMLTV website. This has schedules 14 days in advance which is handy for planning recordings, but some of the schedules 13-14 days ahead are unconfirmed and so have the programme listed as "TBA" or "Film to be announced". As WebEPG collects all the data every day, when these TBAs are replaced with the proper programme the EPG is updated correctly.

Even when it was collecting 14 days data for 91 channels, it didn't seem to take too long.

Also, as diehard2 states, schedules can often change and these changes would not be reflected in the MediaPortal EPG.

That is why I have voted No.

    Thanks

Hmmm, I was proposing it be an option, not a replacement for the current system.

Alas, not everyone yet has high speed broadband. I only have 256K and it takes me 20 minutes to update my EPG and I have to do it partly manually so I thought to check if such an option would benefit others or if I simply need to find another solution.

Sorry Dadeo, I missed the crucial word "option".

I am not against having an option as people can select or not as appropriate. The only proviso is that it should be clear on the application or in the Wiki what it should be used for as there seem to be a number of options where no one is really that clear on what they do.

I guess I am lucky to have reasonable speed broadband and a fairly starightforward way of getting the EPG (MediaPortal wakes my HTPC at 4:00 am, grabs the EPG then hibernates again) so the option would not make a difference to my setup.
