Green stripe at right side of SDTV picture (1 Viewer)

Hi,

today I installed the latest version of ffdshow-tryouts and Catalyst 11.11 (had 11.2 before) because with ffdshow DXVA decoder a few x264-encoded videos stuttered terribly while most of them worked fine. This problem was not fixed and it caused another one, I think:
When watching SDTV within MediaPortal there is an green stripe at the right side of the screen now (see attached screenshot). This does not happen with HDTV. Also the stripe is not present in Windows Media Center and XBMC (the latter using MediaPortal TSReader). So the error only occurs within MediaPortal although XBMC uses MP TVServer, too.
Therefore it has to be a codec problem, I think, as XBMC uses its own codecs, right? So I changed the TV codecs to LAV or MPC and the stripe was still there. Any ideas?

The problem is likely to be the video card drivers or the codecs as you have suggested. XBMC does use internal codecs. Neither TsReader or TsWriter actually change the content of the video stream in any way. The issue will be somewhere in the video decoding or rendering... which is done by codecs and the video card driver. MP uses Dx9 which I think is different to XBMC (not sure about WMC). That could explain why you see the difference in behaviour.

In the meantime I was able to fix the problem. I changed "uncompressed video" from "all supported" to "disabled" in ffdshow's settings. THen the green stripe was gone. But I wonder why it was there when I told MediaPortal to use LAV or MPC as TV codec.

Glad you found the issue.
I'm not sure if I can explain why you saw the issue with LAV and MPC except to say that MP was obviously not using those codecs at the time. Did you restart MP after changing the codec settings?

I changed the codec settings with the config utility and not within MediaPortal. So yes.

Hmmm, okay.
I guess it is possible that FFDShow was getting rendered into the graph all the time. The only sure way to know would be to check what codecs are in the graph with GraphStudio (connect to remote graph).
