With the one additional note that the reason @HomeY's James Bond (007) series is shown in perfect order with roman numerals is due to IMDb+, as it has movie series support by renaming the title during import.
You do indeed have to do a massive amount of manual work to make categories work, but if you use dynamic elements that will be a one time job to do, for long term enjoyment.
For example you create main menu entry "Movies by Studio", and inside of it make a "Disney" category and then just add a filter to that with "Studios" + 'contains' + "Disney" and that will accumulate *ALL* your Disney movies, use the preview button to verify what movies are all shown, so you can correct filters without having to close config and open up MediaPortal GUI. Simply rinse and repeat for your other categories.
I've created like 200+ categories like that myself over the years and if you plan to do all at once then it is a monster task, but if you just take it slow and do a few at a time and play with it, then very quickly you will get it exactly the way you want.
