Hate to disagree but I have a 530 and it does 720p no probs.
I got fed up with trying to make a quiet HTPC and bought one of these...
Tranquil PC Limited ixL i3 Power PC

Isn't 1080i pretty much the same processing as 720p?
AFAIK BBC HD is transmitted in 1080i and it does that.

yes 720p is fine. But 1080i is not possible without stuttering. I have tested everything ... but Live TV 1080i NO GO

Like I say, BBC HD is fine for me (1080i), I think I'm using the win7 codecs, what are you using?

    I tryed MS Decoder / PDVD 10 / FFDshow
Watching SKY HD Sports is not good. They are sending 1080i 25Hz
Also i have found many treads where other users say the same. Video material is fine in 1080p but LiveTV is not working for me
and iGPU in 530 are the same as 540

I hope we aren't getting too off topic, but from what you say you are suggesting its the fact that its live TV is the problem, you say 1080p files are fine? Why should that be any different with the GPU? they should boil down to the same stream AFAIK
For what its worth I'm not using RTSP for live.

As far as I know 1080i is the resolution that's toughest with todays standards, even tougher then 1080p because it need to have power to do the deinterlacing aswell as just decoding. From what I've read 1080i is the resolution that causes most problems, even the Radeon HD 5450 and upcoming Zacate will/should struggle with it.

(4k and RED is probably harder but that's not really a HTPC standard yet ;p )
