As always the team of media portal and the fine folks that support those that use MePo are TOP NOTCH! I know this affects a lot of people and with the "wonderful" world of HDMI (please read sarcastically) the users of HDMI around the world struggle with it as a connection. So I am happy to wait as long as needed because I know you all will keep kicking out the best you can and we all appreciate it.

My solution has more to do with not using the HDMI output on my HTPC and using the DVI output. The problem that I face with my small system is that the audio use to run over the HDMI, I had to buy a 1/4" stereo male jack to RCA female adapter that allows me to send audio out the back. This then goes to a small sound bar (stereo speaker with a remote sub so this makes is a 2.1 output). So the video goes to the TV and audio to the sound bar.

When I was connecting with the HDMI I had a Toskey (digitial optical) audio connection that would take the HDMI signal and pass it to the sound bar.

For some reason now, when I turn off the TV and turn it back on the resolution does not change and the screen is always full (no half screen) and while I was getting digital audio over the HDMI which got passed to my sound bar, even if it was 5.1 or 7.1 audio, my sound bar has to down mix to 2.1 so I really don't lose anything. Maybe someday I'll get a real receiver, but for now this works.

One benefit that I didn't have before is I can turn off the TV (saving power) and listen to music.

Again you ALL ROCK and really make MePo so cool it is why my marriage is always being strained by the "Other woman (MePo)". :)
