but have you set everything up through the Arcsoft Showbiz software? I try to leave the audio settings to Automatic whenever possilble.

Ok, I did not set up the software for this, just the IR drivers. I did install WinTV that came on the CD and tested and I DO get audio. I will look into installing the Arcsoft (if it is on the disk) I hadn't noticed that. Will report back what I find.

2. Blasters: I do not use the Hauppauge blasters, I use the blasters through my MCE transceiver. They integrate well with IRSS. I think most users found it to be a real pain to set up the Hauppauge blasters. Can someone else chime in if they have the Hauppauge blasters working correctly?

This is what trows me off, the blaster part works, flawlessly... I can change channels (via keyboard) and it will change the channel on my Dish Network 7000 series receiver. It's the IR from the remote to navigate menus in Mediaportal. I am used to Linux and this is pretty new to me so I don't know where logs would be stored for the IR part. I used to use a utility "irw" on Linux to see the actual remote sending/receiving commands. No such tool here for testing...is there?

I will try what you suggested tonight and get back some details to you. I know this thread is for development on 1.2beta, but isn't this "kinda" helping development?

What kind of remote are you using - Hauppauge? MC compatible? Something else? - and are you using IRSS to try and receive commands? If you're just using MediaPortal then take a look -->here<--.

I think we're here to help each other as well as collaborate on improving the code support. :)

Ok, I installed the Arcsoft software, and then updated it as there was a newer version available. I run this and it autodetects the Colossus Video on Component and the audio on RCA line in. Plays video with audio perfectly, recorded too. I went back into Mediaportal and verified the channels set at "automatic" for audio and then restarted the TV service. Then I tried TV again, and still no sound. Blaster still working and changing channels ok, still no control

    edit:

Its just the 45-button Hauppauge Remote, nothing out of ordinary. It did work with my HDPVR and MP 1.1, but really would like the PCI-e as it transitions so much better, no lag like the HDPVR.
Not using the IRSS, but if that will get me where I need to be, I just didn't find it very Hauppauge friendly, I guess. I will look at link you sent and if I have to muttle through IRSS then I will do so.

I checked link you sent and that screen at the bottom says "No problems found" or something like that.

Okay, you should be able to get the remote working without the need for IRSS. There has been one report of issues with HCWHelper and 1.2.0b. Perhaps logs would be helpful to confirm nothing is crashing...

yeah, that is exactly what is happening, I have seen where HCWHelper crashes over and over, I will post in that thread that I have that same issue, but I did not see a resolve for as of yet.

Did you folks find anything out about the auto setting?

I installed the new driver on Saturday and set the SPDIF setting in the Arcsoft Showbiz software and it picked up the correct audio input. Prior to that, I used SJeffrey's suggestion about changing it directly in Graphedit which also works great. (Note: all my channels are set to Automatic.)

The issue I ran into was some channels had sound, others didnt. I think maybe its my AAC decoder thats not working correctly or maybe my receiver is having issues switching between PCM and Dolby Digital. I tune to a DD channel (ESPN) and it works fine. Then I try to tune to a non-DD channel (NFL Network) and there is no audio. Odd thing is, you hear the audio right before the channel change, but afterwards you dont (I hope this is not a Dish-Network issue.)

I will play with it more this weekend and hopefully resolve the issue.

Are you saying that you are getting both AC3 and AAC, obiviously not at the same time but depending on the channel you tune?
It though the encoder gave us the choice not the STB. If that's the case then probably you would need to stop the graph and rebuild it, which would make channel changing longer.

Im not sure what the hell Im saying :D

Seriously though, the colossus passes AC3 audio through directly, but encodes the PCM audio to AAC. So on the Dolby Digital Channels it passes through and my receiver is happy. But when I then change to a channel with PCM it encodes the audio to AAC and thats where the problem starts. Im not sure where in the chain the problem is, maybe the encoding to AAC, maybe my AAC decoder or maybe even my receiver doesnt like the switch. I will have to do more research this weekend to figure it out... (hopefully :) )

Edit: Something else to consider is I am using an ATI 5550 video card that does my video and audio, so Im not using an SPDIF connection. I hope this is not the issue because I use bitstreaming (Dolby TrueHD & DTS-HD) for movies...

NO audio drift for me with FFDshow, 3 flat line, 1 framedrop every 10 000 frame. I installed new drivers, configure Showbiz to 12 mbps and optical. In channel configuration, Audio is set to auto. And now MP has DD sound from my receiver. My wife and I are sooooo pleased with the colossus. I really appreciate your work guys... WileE, mm and others from this thread. I'll do my best to help this thread moving forward.

    Hey kilik360,
Can you give us a little more information on your setup?

    1. Who is your cable/sat provider?
    2. Are you experiencing any issues going from AC3 Channels to non-AC3 channels?
    3. On non-AC3 channels what does your STB send out? PCM? (You may not be able to find this)
    4. AAC codec?

    Thanks!
    Wile E.
