    @mm

I do have the sound popping on channel change from time to time.... not everyday...
    I use SPDIF.

So it seems to be common issue.

    thanks !

luci5r, I am also using the Hauppauge blaster with my MCE remote and it works very well, never have an issue changing channels but I just leave the cable box on all the time. There is no 'smart' way for any blaster program to 'know' if the box is on or off. I think you would be just causing yourself some missed recordings if you want on on\off control with the blaster imo.

I'm beginning to realize you're correct. Seeing no easy way for the IR Blaster to handle STB on/off, I believe I'm only going to cause unnecessary anguish trying to get this to work.

Quite honestly I have no problems leaving the STB ON 24/7. Unfortunately we're creatures of habit; I have always turned off the STB when not in use; and inadvertently last week I turned off the STB and missed a scheduled recording - it is then that it occurred to me to find out if there was a way to control STB's on/off via the blaster.

As it turns out - there is no easy way for us hauppauge colossus/mediaportal users to do this; I will just have to work hard on reversing my habit.

Yes indeed habits are hard to break......... One of my habits just caused a complete meltdown of my system....... nothing works now  ........ now I must start from scratch again:mad:

    Quick question:

If you enable "Show Channels Numbers" in the MediaPortal Configuration, the TV Guide is showing the ID that is assigned by TV Server Configuration to each channel -- not the actual Channel #. Is there any way to show the actual Channel # (same as STB) instead of the ID?

This is what the TV Guide is showing; The number next to the channel is not the actual channel #, it's just the ID stored in TV Server Configuration. (269, 270, etc.) ...

    TV1.JPG

This is the setting I'm using to show the channel number...

    TV2.JPG

As you can see here - the actual channel # should be, for example, 543 for HBO2PHD and 544 for HBOSPHD ... not 269 & 270 which are the ID's...

    Any suggestions.

    Thanks!!

uncheck select channel by index, this will allow you to hit 543 and tune into HBOSPHD rather than 269.
Uncheck show channel numbers, this will get rid of the numbers before which is not the correct number.
What you need to do is have the tuning channel be the same as the guide channel. I'm using For The Record so I'm not sure again how to do this.
From memory I think it's with the SchedulesDirect plugin, there's a setting there to import channel number + call sign.

    Edit:
You are using XmlTv so even worse, I have no idea as I never used it. I'll leave the ScheduleDirect portion of my reply in case someone else needs to know...

    Hi again luci5r

I think I remember mentioning earlier in our discussions that you need to set the "lcn" (logical channel number) column with the channel numbers from the guide info. If you've done that then sjeffery is right - all you'd have to do is untick "select channel by index". That will allow you to key in 543 to change to HBO2PHD *and* also show the correct numbers in the guide.

See -->here<-- for more fuller explanations of those settings...

mm ... I'm not clear about "lcn". Where is the lcn column? Is it in the MySQL Database?
When I had written the PHP/MySQL script to get channel data from tvguide.xml ... I had created values for idChannel & idTuning as simple "incremental" numbers (1,2,3,4...) ... I believe I did mention this in one of my posts. The "ChannelNumber" column has the actual channel number from my tvguide.xml

I'm not sure which one is the "lcn" column; I don't see it in the MySQL Database. I could do a "replace all" command to replace values in lcn with values in ChannelNumber column if needed.

Right now as I see it - the TV Guide in MediaPortal is picking up the idChannel column and displaying it as Channel Number, rather then the ChannelNumber column which is the actual channel number on my STB.

    Thanks.

    NEVERMIND:

It works!! Once I unchecked "Select channel by Index" as sjeffery suggested, the TV Guide started showing the actual STB Channel numbers. Works absolutely fine now!!

    THANKS!!

Great thread guys and great work mm! I have MP working well with my HDPVR and channels changing. I am experiencing slow channel changes in the range of 5 seconds; is this normal?

Thanks for getting the HDPVR this far with MP!

5 Seconds is normal, some might have a bit faster, some slower. It mostly depends on the STB you have.
With the Colossus channel changes are a bit faster.

    Hey,
I would just like to thank you for your help and support,

I was wondering, if it was possible to apply the patch to current beta, as the patch provided appears to alter other things, causing problems for me with my TBS-6981 (DVB-S2 Tuner), causing it to not use the Diseqc correctly, as it was working fine before the patch.

Yes, the recent patches can *only* be applied to MP 1.2.0b - attempting to apply them to 1.2.0a or 1.1.x would fail miserably. Could I ask you what version of MP you were using when DiSEqC was working and which patch you're using (I'd be recommending this one). I'd like to see some TV Server logs too please (you can find instructions for getting logs -->here<--).
