I am trying to install my HD-PVR in MediaPortal on Win7 32bit Pro. For some reason the HD-PVR shows up as a crossbar tuner which if I have understood the thread is the incorrect tuner

2011-07-22 20:43:15.786000 [SetupTv(1)]: ---- SetupTv v1.1.7.0 is starting up on - Pastebin.com

Windows Version: Win7
CPU Type: Athlon X2
HDD: Seagate 500Gb
Memory: 3Gb
Video Card: HD2600XT
1. TV Card: Adaptec AVC3610
1. TV Card Type: Analog
2. TV Card: HDHomeRun
2. TV Card Type: QAM
3. TV Card: HD-PVR
3. TV Card Type: Digital
MPEG2 Video Codec: ArcSoft
h.264 Video Codec: ArcSoft
Satelite/CableTV Provider: Charter
[TV - HTPC Connection: HDMI

Solved: I obviously didn't search the forums correctly. Found the one I needed and, atleast for the HD-PVR, all is good.

Now if I only could understand why MediaPortal won't tune channels on my Adaptec AVC-3610?

I'm having a problem similar to the one another posted a few pages back. Basically, I always get an error when the service tries to find my HD PVR:

I followed the proposed solution (https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...olossus-support-94850/index44.html#post766688) which was to install the 1.2 beta, then manually update some of the files, then manually update a few more. I tried after each step, but I always get the same error message every time.

I can post a full set of logs if that would be useful.

    Hi Brad

I have no idea why, but it seems our forum software automatically moderated your post. Sorry about that... :sorry:

With that out of the way, welcome to the forum! :)
I think it would definitely be a good idea to post your logs (please use the watchdog). Are you using W7, because I wonder whether you've got the VC++2008 redistributable installed. You need both the VC++2008 and VC++2010 redistributables (be sure to use the x86 versions.

Edit: Funny thing just happened: I put in my huge post detailing all the steps I've taken and forgot to attach the log files and the forum wanted to have you approve the post again before putting it up. Then I replied just to attach my missing log files and it posted that (this) right away. So, putting my original post in here...

I checked and both of the VC++ redists were installed, but I installed them again just to be sure. Then I tried to start the WatchDog debug tool and funny thing... it crashed. Not MediaPortal, but the debug tool:

    System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not find file 'C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\MediaPortal.xml'.

After that happened I thought it might be best if I start with a fresh install (again), so I've done a full removal and started all over.

So, I'm documenting exactly what I'm doing as I try this install:

    * Install MP 1.2.0 Beta, accepting all defaults (except SQL password). MP installs without complaint.
    * The TVService service is running after the install finishes so I manually stop the service.
    * Working from your post earlier in this thread, #432 (https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...olossus-support-94850/index44.html#post766688), I got the All_Colossus_HDPVR_Patch(v2).zip file and applied those changes.
    * I'm using the 1.5.7.0 drivers from Hauppauge as well as the MCE support files (perhaps this could be the source of the problem?), so I also updated the TVLibrary.dll file from the same post #432. The instructions in that post read a little funny so I was not entirely clear if I should replace all 4 files in that zip file, or just the TVLibrary.dll. It seems like just the DLL so I went with that.
    * At this point, I tried starting up TV-Server Configuration. Once it restarted the service and the GUI came up, I still had no HD PVR capture device. I shut down the TVService again and verified that I'm still getting the same error in the log file.
    * Next I tried to start MediaPortal Watchdog, I left all the options at their defaults and clicked proceed. Again, I got the WatchDog crash: System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not find file 'C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\MediaPortal.xml'. I chose Continue in the hopes that it would still be able to do it's thing, but the Status never changes from "Launching MediaPortal..."
    * It was here that I figured out that running the MediaPortal Configuration tool was what generated that missing XML file. I ran it and didn't change anything and exited it. Then started the debug mode WatchDog again. MP started up, said it was waiting for a connection to the TV service for a little bit and then finally showed the home screen. The TV service never actually started up, though, so I manually started it up. Nothing in the TV section showed anything useful, so after poking around there for a minute, I exited MP. Watchdog then created the attached log file set. Hopefully something useful is in there.

    Hi again Brad

    System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not find file 'C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\MediaPortal.xml'.

Yes, you figured that out correctly - you must start MP config to generate that.

...so I also updated the TVLibrary.dll file from the same post #432. The instructions in that post read a little funny so I was not entirely clear if I should replace all 4 files in that zip file, or just the TVLibrary.dll. It seems like just the DLL so I went with that.
I think this is the problem - you're mixing up patches that aren't meant to be mixed. To be very clear:

    1. You should install the patch from -->here<-- (post 367).
    2. After that, install the TVLibrary *that is attached* to the first post (ie. *not* the patch that is discussed in the post "...All_Colossus_HDPVR_Patch.zip..." - that is an earlier version of the patch that you install from post 367 in step 1, hence the patch from post 367 being called All_Colossus_HDPVR_Patch(v2).zip ;)). There is a patch file and a dll in the zip file, and you only need the dll.

All that you probably need to do is step 2 since you only took the TVLibrary.dll from the earlier patch. If you still have problems after that then please let me know.

Ok, I definitely wasn't pulling that last TVLibrary.dll file from the correct location as you pointed out (I think the filename of the .ZIP confused me, I thought it applied only to people using the new Colossus cards). I reapplied the v2 zip patch files and then the DLL from the Colossus zip file, but I still get the exact same error.

Anything else you can think of that I might be able to try?

    Hi again Brad

Okay, sorry for what might be a dumb question (I don't have either a Colossus or HDPVR), but what are the MCE support files that you mentioned?

    Hi again Brad

Okay, sorry for what might be a dumb question (I don't have either a Colossus or HDPVR), but what are the MCE support files that you mentioned?

    mm

It's a package from Hauppauge that provides direct support for the HD PVR in Win7 Media Center:

    Support for HD PVR

It's the link under "Installation Package".

    UPDATE:

Ok, I did a fresh Win7 Home Premium install this morning. My prior system was the same OS, but I had upgraded an existing Vista system in place. This time I installed Win 7 completely fresh to get rid of any possible old drivers, etc. that inevitable pollute things up. I installed the minimal drivers I needed to get all of my hardware recognized (the base HD PVR drivers, but not the Win7 MCE drivers for it, and some firewire drivers for changing the channel on my SA cable box). After that I immediately installed MP 1.2 and patched as we have been discussing here. Now I do have the device showing up in the server config tool so I'm finally in business I think.

I will first make a drive image so that in case I screw something up I can roll back to here. :D I'll then try installing a few more things like that 2nd set of stuff from Hauppauge for Win7 MCE to see if I can find exactly what causes the MP problem I've been having and will let you know if I do narrow it down to something specific.

Thanks for the help so far.

Getting mighty frustrated trying to get the Hauppage Colossus to work with MediaPortal 1.2.0 as advertised, Win7 64bit.

Would it be possible to have a 'Sticky' post at the front of this thread, maintained by those in the know, that has the exact set of procedures, latest correct patches & files, all in one location?

    Thanks in advance.
