    Hi Grayhawk

First welcome, and sorry to hear that you're having trouble.

Would it be possible to have a 'Sticky' post at the front of this thread, maintained by those in the know, that has the exact set of procedures, latest correct patches & files, all in one location?
There is already such a post. It was out of date on only one point, which I have now updated. You may also find the comments that start from about -->here<-- helpful to you (in terms of the general process for getting the Colossus working).

Don't hesitate to sing out if you have any specific problems that you're battling - I'm here to help for at least the next 8 hours. :)

Thank you. I had gone through that list a couple of times, possibly with the one item that was outdated. Thanks for correcting it.

I'll try again & try to get to the poinof having specific details.

    Okay :)
Key point: that "All_Colossus_HDPVR_Patch.zip" link is the one I updated, so make sure you download that fresh. You actually want the "All_Colossus_HDPVR_Patch(v2).zip"

Thank You.. I appreciate your help very much.

I just tryed once again but never seem to get to the point of having any TV servers show up (to configure). The logs seems to indicate that the cards are detected: Hauppauge ATSC card and Colossus card. Not sure what to do, so giving it a rest for a while.

    Ahhhh

It looks to me like you're battling against the same issue mentioned by Brad (bstowers) only a few posts back (page 45). Try uninstalling the WMC plugin thing.

It's possible as I had installed the Colossus version of Hauppauge support for WMC previously. Now to figure out how to get rid of it and all residue.

HCWClear? That might get rid of everything Hauppauge related though. How painful would it be to reinstall the drivers?

A surprise to me, as I made a little progress. :)

I removed everything MediaPortal, followed by a manual cleaning of any residue directories & files.
I removed everything Hauppauge, WinTV7, support for WME, and also uninstalled the 2 devices (ATSC & Colossal) hoping that this would force a load of correct drivers. Also manual cleaning.

Coming out of this, drivers were loaded for the Hauppauge ATSC card & Colossus; but the device called 'Colossus Capture' had some kind of problem.

Then I did a fresh install of everything MediaPortal following your guidelines.

The TV Server setup now finds some servers, the usual plus the Hauppauge hybrid card ATSC & analog, so I configured this card. The Colossus card was not detected. I assume that is because of the driver problem I have.

However, I now have some ATSC signals to watch while I figure out the Colossus problem (it is connected to satellite receiver).

    Thanks again for the help.

You know that streaming you were having? Another guy has been dealing with the same problem over -->here<--. All credit to Owlsroost (Tony) for this suggestion: check your firewalls and see if there is an exception for private ports (dynamic) as well as public (well known/registered) ports. Just to add a bit of an explanation:

The port numbers are divided into three ranges: the Well Known Ports,
the Registered Ports, and the Dynamic and/or Private Ports.

The Well Known Ports are those from 0 through 1023.

DCCP Well Known ports SHOULD NOT be used without IANA registration.
The registration procedure is defined in [RFC4340], Section 19.9.

The Registered Ports are those from 1024 through 49151

DCCP Registered ports SHOULD NOT be used without IANA registration.
The registration procedure is defined in [RFC4340], Section 19.9.

The Dynamic and/or Private Ports are those from 49152 through 65535

RTSP streaming uses the UDP protocol over private ports, so firewall rules need to be configured with that in mind.

An update - By reverting to an earlier set of drivers for the Colossus, I was able to get it running and it was detected by MP as 'Analog Hauppauge Colossus Crossbar 0', so now I'll be working to learn how to configure a crossbar type device.
