Hauppauge HD-PVR & Colossus Support
This thread is in support of the Hauppuage HD-PVR & Colossus tuners. You can find links to download the 1.2 Beta as well as other essential plugins below. Most users use the Schedules Direct plugin to get guide data, as well as the IRSS plugin to blast to their cable/satellite receivers. You can find links to their resective forums below.

HD-PVR - > HD PVR Product overview

Instructions:

1. Download the MediaPortal 1.2 Beta here -> MEDIAPORTAL - MediaPortal 1.2.0 Beta RELEASED!
2. After you install MP 1.2 Beta, download All_Colossus_HDPVR_Patch.zip and update the TV Server dll's with this fix from developer mm (this fix is for the Dolby Digital and HDMI issues) -> Dolby Digital Fix
3. Finally, download the TVLibrary.dll attached to this post into your TV Server install folder.
4. Download Schedules Direct plugin here -> Downloads - mp-schedulesdirect - SchedulesDirect Plugin for MediaPortal - Google Project Hosting Schedules Direct forum information here -> Schedules Direct US/Canadian/Mexico EPG Plugin (Updated August 2010)

6. If you plan to use the Hauppauge Blasters, thread this post -> Hauppauge HD-PVR & Colossus Support

NOTE: If you are using RCA cables set all channels to use Line #1. If you are using SPDIF cable set all channels to SPDIF #2.

Could you assist with #4. I can download these files but which is used for 1.02b? Where do I put these files? What does SVN refer to?

Thanks again for your help. Dave

    Hi again Dave

SVN is short for Subversion - it is the code versioning and collaboration system that we use for developing MediaPortal. Considering that you're using MP 1.2.0b you should use "svn26", AKA "SchedulesDirectPlugin-MPSVN27679-svn26.rar". Read the included README.txt for installation instructions - to save you the trouble, you put the dlls in the Plugins subfolder of your TV Server installation folder.

Thanks again mm. I guess the larger question is, Where does one fine out that "SchedulesDirectPlugin-MPSVN27679-svn26.rar" is the one needed for 1.2.0b so that I don't have to ask such seemingly simple questions? The READ ME does not seem to contain this information.

    Thanks again, Dave

    Hi again

The project home page -->here<--. I quote:

    svn26

This version is the latest for the 1.2 SVN loads. It features support for the plugin compatibility that is now present in MP 1.2. Thanks again to ajp for the load

I would agree that even that description doesn't necessarily make it obvious for someone such as yourself. It is more obvious to me as a developer. Perhaps this is something that could be raised with the SD developers...

mm In the TV Servers setup I do find the Colossus Crossbar as one of the available servers.

Other configuration settings seem to want to scan for channels but the Colossus only sees the one channel coming from the STB at the moment so how does it see all the satellite channels?

What settings are needed in the TV server configuration?

What is DVB EPG or where do I look to find this out?

    Many thanks again. Dave

mm Also, when I start TV Server Config, I get a message "Version 6.5.2600.5512.of Psisdecd has too many bugs? This seems to throw me to a non-existant web page but TV Server Config still starts up.

    Okay, that is good.

Other configuration settings seem to want to scan for channels but the Colossus only sees the one channel coming from the STB at the moment so how does it see all the satellite channels?
You're correct - you can't scan for channels with the Colossus. That is why I said you need to use SchedulesDirect to add your lineup to TV Server's channel list. Either that or you have to add the channels manually using the "add" button in the TV Channels section. Once you've added the channels you should be able to see them in MediaPortal, and assuming that you've linked them to the SchedulesDirect data correctly you should also see guide data. The next step (which I think you're already aware of) is that you need to set up a blaster if you want to control the STB. We talked about this already a little over -->here<--.

What settings are needed in the TV server configuration?
I'm sorry but I just can't provide full length answers to you for every single aspect of setup - I don't have the time. Please read the wiki. A brief answer would be:
    1. Create your channels.
    2. Customise recording and timeshifting folders in the "recording" and "timeshifting" sections.
    3. Add channel logos - Logos - MediaPortal Wiki

Other things like the blaster setup are things you'll have to deal with on your own or with help from other people.

What is DVB EPG or where do I look to find this out?
It is program data that is broadcast with DVB-S, DVB-T and DVB-C channels. Ignore it - it does not apply to the Colossus or HDPVR.

Also, when I start TV Server Config, I get a message "Version 6.5.2600.5512.of Psisdecd has too many bugs?
Seems like you didn't read the requirements before installing MP. Install the BDA/DVB hotfix from -->here<-- and that will get rid of it.

    Thanks again mm.

Now, you say "That is why I said you need to use SchedulesDirect to add your lineup to TV Server's channel list."

How do I "use Schedules Direct"? Is this a choice somewhere in the configuration? Is this a separate program I run? I have checked this plugin on the configuration screen but I don't see how to add channels.

Also, when I start up MP I get a strange gui. The chices TV, VIDEO, etc are scrolling vertically and I have to chase the choice I want to make in order to select it. What is this interface supposed to do as this just doesn't seem correct?

    Thanks, Dave

    Hi again Dave

How do I "use Schedules Direct"?
I've never used it because it only provides guide data for the US and Canada. This won't be the first time that I won't be able to answer a question so *please* use the tools (in particular, the wiki and forum) that we provide for getting answers before you ask more questions. The wiki wouldn't be so helpful in this case but the forum has *tons* of threads about using and configuring SchedulesDirect. A one minute search found me -->this<-- guide. I suggest you try following that for a start and then search the forums again if you hit trouble. You may want to follow the other parts of the guide too...

One thing that I know trips up almost everyone who uses SchedulesDirect is channel mapping. SchedulesDirect somehow creates channels in TV Server configuration, but it does not link them to your "tuners" (in this case, your Colossus). You'll need to do that manually as instructed in the wiki -->here<--. It is very painless.

Is this a separate program I run?
No, you configure it in the TV Server plugins section.

I have checked this plugin on the configuration screen but I don't see how to add channels.
I believe all you have to do is something like enter your SD login and password. Please follow the guide linked above or search the forum.

Also, when I start up MP I get a strange gui. The chices TV, VIDEO, etc are scrolling vertically and I have to chase the choice I want to make in order to select it. What is this interface supposed to do as this just doesn't seem correct?
Strange? This is the MP home screen. MP is designed to be used with a remote - simply use the up and down keys to navigate. If you're using a mouse then position your mouse over the center item to stop the scrolling. The further you move the mouse from the center item, the faster it will scroll. If you absolutely hate that concept then try the basic home screen - open MP configuration, go to the "GUI" section, and select "only basic home" in the "home screen" field.

I know this has been said because I read it in the past but I cannot find it so first lets get this out of the way...
I'm stupid. You're smart. I was wrong. You were right. You're the best. I'm the worst. You're very good-looking. I'm not attractive.

ok then now we can get started...

This will help someone else find the info for MP CLIENT install.
What files do I need to copy from all_colossus_patch_v2 to replace on a MP client?

    :D

    Hi thirdoff

Give yourself some credit - your persistence through that firewall issue is pretty epic. *Thank you* for sticking at it! :D

To answer your question: you need all the files under the "MediaPortal" and "MediaPortal\plugins\Windows" headings.
Here is a -->link<-- back to the post for your convenience. I've also updated it with that information in case people have trouble finding this post.

    Cheers!
