I also have 3-29 loaded and I am not seeing this issue. I have a PVR-500 and there are several people on IRC who have also tested this. I think we concluded that it doesn't really matter if cable = False, but just as long as the frequency is correct. This bug was fixed like 8 days ago. I don't want to tell you something you already know... but make sure you have a clean install of RC3 and then today’s current patch. We want to make sure something is not lingering around from an older CVS.

One thing you can do is clear out your logs, run the auto tune on your channels. Save the log and then when you get static on a channel, go back to the current log and compare values. Before the patch it was way off.

    Hi,

wanna *bump* this one up with some additional information:
    SVN: mediaportal-svn-04-05-2006--12-21.rar

    - MP still selects the wrong input source (antenna) for the second recording.

For testing please make sure you set all frequencies to "0" in the TVDatabase. Only this way the bug can be seen. Make two overlapping recordings with the same channel. I do see this in mediaportal.log:

I'll test the latest SVN tonight but I did test the 3-29 CVS with a completely fresh install of MP and it did scan all the channels during setup and detect them properly. However, that said, when I went to watch them, the first nine channels or so had really screwed up audio, and I mean like a high tinny sound that would have made my ear drums burst had I not had my finger on the mute button.

I just tested this out again with the mediaportal-svn-04-03-2006--01-06 SVN release. I first wanted to see if I could get the second tuner flake out so I recorded 6, 30 min shows. All the shows were set up back to back to make sure the second tuner was being used. After the hour and a half went by, I checked my recordings. Every one of them gave me a good recording. I then went into the log and searched for "cable" Every single show was recorded with Cable:false. I then went into the config to double check to see if it was on antenna and it was. I am sure I set it to cable when I first did the autotune. I went through the shows recorded and checked the values with a frequency list I have, and they were all correct.

For a second test, I deleted all my channels. I then did a import from my tvguide.xml file. I went into the database to make sure there were NO frequencies within the database. There was not. I set up 4 shows to be recorded. After they were all done, I checked them again and I still can't get the fuzzy white screen.

As I have said all along, The big thing we need to be looking at here is the Freq. If the frequency is right, the channels seem to come in. It doesn't matter if it's cable true or false.

I personal feeling on this is that ALL of your channels should have frequencies in the database. Everyone should be doing an autotune to get your frequencies.

Ok so I did this as well. I deleted all my channels, and then did an import from the tvguide.xml which gets its program info from zap2it. So I go into mediaportal (using SVN 2006-04-07) and when I go any channel I get this:

    notuner.jpg

I can't get my head around how mediaportal works with the tv guide to be honest. What am I doing wrong here?

By default, MP does not assign any channels to any cards when you do an XML import. I think if you do an autotune, it adds them to your card. You will need to go in there and make sure all channels are assigned to BOTH cards (if you have 2)

So under TV Channels, you will then have a tab TV Cards. Click on that and highlight all channels and move them over for each card. I had to do the same thing on that test :) I forgot just like you.

I knew I was forgetting something! Alright so I got that done, then went to test it out. Only once did I get that tinny noise on a channel, and when I went back to that same channel it was gone, so it must be some fluke that happens every once in a while. Then I set up four recordings as such:

Family Guy | In Living Color (same time, different channels)
    Robot Chicken
    Minoriteam

So I had four programs lined up to record on schedule, and kept the tv on cartoon network. Whilst watching family guy I paused it to answer a phone call, and when I came back and unpaused it, the audio started up again but the video was completely frozen. So I left it alone for the night and checked this morning to see what had transpired. MP was still frozen with the audio playing right along, so I shut that down and took a look at the dvr-ms'. 3/4 files came up as static. Oddly enough the one that was fine was Robot Chicken, which was in the middle of all the recordings. I assume I should copy paste a log of some sort at this point, but I don't know where I would get it or even if it would be useful.

In addition, MP is pretty much dragging ass for me - as in very slow and unresponsive - should I just bite the bullet and upgrade the heck out of my system or are you guys experiencing similar problems with faster machines?

BTW thanks for all your help ASiDiE, I realize I'm probably asking some dumb questions here so thanks for taking the time to answer them :)
