Hi All,

I have just setup mediaportal using mdapi and acamd.

I have LAV installed and FFDshow and also intel quicksync.

My spec is as follows, pentium g620, 4gb ram, 64gb ssd, 2tb hdd, tbs 6981 tuner.

I watch a SD channel within MP for example channel 4+1 and its perfect.

I switch to Sky Sports 1HD and it starts stuttering and not playing smoothly. Im running out of ideas so hopefully someone can help me. I have attached a few images if it helps, one showing SD and the other HD.

Thanks in advance

    Hi Joe... and Welcome!!

Not too sure on the hardware you have, but have you set LAV to use the GPU for processing - it is in the LAV video configuration setting under Start>LAV Filters>LAV Video Config.

Also I notice a difference in the refresh rates on the first image - your screen is running at 50Hz, yet the broadcast is at 29.6Hz and this is causing the red line on graph to look like it does - the second image the red line is flat and the refresh rates match at 50hz. Have you tried the auto refresh rate changer to correct this?

Quick explanation of the info in the render stats screen:

'Detd FPS' is the FPS it *should* be playing at, 'Act FPS' is the average FPS it's *actually* playing at - in this case it's only 29.6 because it's dropping a lot of frames (which is why the red line is all over the place - the red line basically shows actual FPS in real time).

I agree with porky966t - make sure LAV video decoder is set to 'DXVA2 Native'. If that doesn't fix it, then I suspect the GPU isn't powerful enough to handle the hardware de-interlacing for 1920 x 1080i HDTV.

    Tony

    Hi guys.

I believe i have done the lav stuff but i will double check to make sure.

The gpu i was told should be fine as its intel hd3000 although when watching sd the cpu usage was 12% but when watching hd the cpu usage was 65 to 75% which someone said indicates the gpu is not being used for some reason. Im not sure :-s

Hd is still stuttering after copying the new tsreader and uninstalling all codecs and reinstalling lav filters and selecting dxva native etc.

So do you think my gpu is not upto the job? My blurays play fine althoigh ive been told live hd is alot higher then blurays thus u dnt see much issues.

Will a dedicated gfx card fix it like a radeon 6450

CPU usage is too high maybe. LAV Video decoder is configured to use DXVA2?

Maybe you can post a screenshot of you LAV Video settings.
