Hello,
i really want to get this to work. I have windows 10 and have tried like 5 times reinstalling mediaportal1 using different settings to get it to see my HDhomerun Dual.
My setup is wireless, not sure if that is the problem. I have watched videos, read forums, can't figure it out. One thing I noticed is the videos have shown someone clicking on a TV-Server configuration app, I just have a MediaPortal - Configuratoin app, no TV-server app. Furthermore, within the configureatoin tool on the right the top box under project is General, not TV server like I have seen in the videos. I do have TV/Radio way down the list and in there is TV-Server on the left, but I can't get it to recignize my Homerun even if I type in the host name and MAC address from what I see on my router.

I have tried both Single Seat and MediaPortal Cliant installations. Can someone please help?

Hello and welcome to the forum :)

i really want to get this to work. I have windows 10 and have tried like 5 times reinstalling mediaportal1 using different settings to get it to see my HDhomerun Dual.
    Okay.

At a high level MediaPortal 1 comes with two parts:
    1. MediaPortal - the client/front-end program for watching videos, listening to music etc.
    2. TV Server - a second program that provides TV and radio support to the MediaPortal client (ie. part 1).
Each part has it's own configuration tool/program: MediaPortal Configuration, and TV Server Configuration.

The TV Server part is the part that has to see your HDHomeRun. If you don't have the TV Server part installed, you're up a creek without a paddle... ;)

My setup is wireless, not sure if that is the problem.
No, this is not relevant. Both wireless and wired setups can work, as long as you have the all-important TV Server.

One thing I noticed is the videos have shown someone clicking on a TV-Server configuration app, I just have a MediaPortal - Configuratoin app, no TV-server app.
This suggests you have part 1 without part 2... or in other words, that you you don't have TV Server installed.

Furthermore, within the configureatoin tool on the right the top box under project is General, not TV server like I have seen in the videos.
What you're describing here is MediaPortal Configuration. This is not the right place to be looking for and/or configuring an HDHomeRun.

I do have TV/Radio way down the list and in there is TV-Server on the left, but I can't get it to recignize my Homerun even if I type in the host name and MAC address from what I see on my router.
As above. The host name field in the TV/radio section of MediaPortal Configuration is not for configuring the name/address of your HDHomeRun. Rather, it's for configuring the name/address of the computer on which TV Server is installed.

I have tried both Single Seat and MediaPortal Cliant installations.
You should be doing a single-seat installation. That's an installation where MediaPortal and TV Server are installed together on the computer.

    Can someone please help?
    Sure. :)
    1. Uninstall MediaPortal. Make sure you do a "full product cleanup".
    2. Install MediaPortal again. During installation select the following options (as described in our manual):
      1. Language = choose whichever you prefer; presumably "English (United States)".
      2. "Start with the installation now".
      3. "Yes - I will use MediaPortal to watch TV".
      4. "Perform a One Click installation".
If you choose the correct options as specified above, the installer will install TV Server. After the installation finishes, you should be able to find TV Server Configuration (normally there's a link on the Windows Desktop and in the start menu). Within TV Server Configuration you should see your HDHomeRun listed under "TV Servers" -> (your computer name).

    Kind regards,
    mm

THANKS!! So having the HDhomerun Dual on my network (not on this PC, its plugged into my router by itself) should be treated as single seat? Thanks, I will try this tonight. Exactly as you have said it. I appreciate the help, thanks so much.

Not at the moment, sorry... but this is in the pipeline for the fairly distant future.

    Hi guys,

At the risk of sounding a bit thick, here is my problem.
    1. HDHhomeRunQuad in and running. Static IP of 192.168.0.200. HomeRun app tunes in on all 4
    2. Install Plex. Plex LiveTV finds it and tunes all 4. Good so far
3.. install MP2 latest release. Server and Client installed
    4. Run MPTV Configuration tool. I expected to see the HomeRun as a server here, with 4 tuners below. But, doesn't show up at all.

Any thoughts on where to go next? Appreciate the help. (This is a new build NUC)

    Thanks

    Mike

There are no stupid questions here. :)

Any thoughts on where to go next?
    Yes.

First place I'd go would be firewall/security software. Ensure that the MP2 Server and Server Config have access to your network. They need to be able to see the HDHR.

Second - and sorry I can't be more specific about this - would be to check that the HDHR's "BDA" interface is enabled and/or working correctly. The BDA interface is the interface MP uses. Other apps such as Plex may be able to see the tuners because they use a different interface.

For those that care, Silicon Dust has a full installation package at the site that does much more than just install the app. It also updates drivers, configures BDA on the HDHR (even has a specific MediaPortal option) and sets firewall policies correctly. Very helpful (but never mentioned in their install doco). Thanks so much for your help MM.
