I don't know. Is WMC a DirectShow App? Can you configure it to use any DS codecs (like LAV)?

Nothing to configure in WMC, it could be related to LAV indead. In case I'm very bored within the next 3 weeks I might try it with Kodi once.

Hi.
WMC is more or less an alternative GUI for Windows Media Player so it uses the codecs used in Windows itself. If you don't alter any merits by hand the used codecs are most likely Microsoft codecs...
