I've recently replaced a Hauppauge PVR-150 card with a WinTV HVR-1300 to take advantage of DVB-T broadcasts in my area. However, when I try to view HD channels in MP, the computer appears to sit for ~15s before returning an "Unable to start time shifting. No video/audio detected" error. The channels appear as a grey box with just the audio playing when previewed in the TV server configuration screen.

After some experimentation I have discovered that the channels display perfectly when the Powercinema 5 software (provided with the card) is also installed. Normally I would be happy to install the software and ignore it while continuing to use MP, except that the Powercinema software responds to the MCE remote control I am using and continues to launch itself in the background. I am also finding that Powercinema messes with all the audio settings on the computer.

Does anyone have any suggestions how I might be able to get the HD channels working without installing the Hauppauge software, or how to prevent Powercinema responding to the remote?

    Thanks

I've attached logs from trying to open a HD channel both before and after I have installed Powercinema. Hopefully someone with a better idea of how to read them might find them useful

I've managed to prevent Powercinema from responding to the remote my manually editing the IRremote.ini file that resides in the C:\windows directory. It's not the best fix, but it has got my media PC working again and doing what I want it to, so I'll leave it at that. I still don't know why I require the processes loaded by Powercinema in order for the HVR-1300 to decode DVB-T broadcasts... something for people to consider if they are having "no video/audio detected" errors with this type of card.

    Hello,

I have done the same, because by default you do not have a h.264 decoder installed.
After you installed Power Cinema you have this decoder. As it is the only one installed MP takes this as default and you are able to watch HDTV.

The same should happen, when you install PowerDVD. I own an Win TV Nova S2 which comes along with Power Cinema 5.

Well that does make sense, guess its never been a problem upto now. Pity there is no way just to take the few files that are involved with decoding and avoid installing the rest of Powercinema.

    Thanks for the answer
