If I plug in my headphones while watching live TV the screen goes black and audio turns off. The only way I have found to recover is to close and restart MP and TV at which point, if the headphones are still plugged in, audio is muted to the main amp. and plays on the headphones as I believe it should per the widows audio setup, I can also unplug the headphones and audio returns to the main amp. without problem . If I use the headphones for Radio and Videos etc. it seems to work OK but even after unplugging if I go to TV it will again show a black screen. My audio set up is from the rear analog output to a stereo amp. with speakers, the headphone socket I use is on the HTPC front panel, bios and windows set up to mute rear panel output if headphones are detected on the front panel. Please note this fully functioned as expected with WMC. I am using the MP Audio Renderer but had the same result with the default one.

Logs are attached, controlled test at 13:30 aprox. 5-11-15, with several further tests earlier the same day.

    Hi

Top of head [not looked at logs:) - do you have "Stop Playback on removal of Audio Render" ticket in config [General - Start up/Resume Settings] .

If so, could be your system thinks it's lost it's audio out route and kills video services when headphones are plugged in? Happily, this is very easy test case:)

    Cheers - JCMP.

    Hi JCMP

Well not quite! I am now having problems with 2 of my plugins, Online Videos and Radio Time. If I have ever plugged in the headphones in when, say later, I try and play anything through O.V. (without headphones) the audio is muted, the only way to clear that is with a close and restart of MP1. If I plug the headphones in while playing something with Radio Time I get nothing through the headphones and stopping and restarting the program results in a complete failure, all stations error, again to clear the problem I have to close and restart MP1. Starting Rdio Time with the headphones already plugged in seems to work. Everything else seems to be working OK including TMT and MPC which I use for BD and DVDs resp. Music rips played through the Music plugin are also good.

    Any suggestions?

Oo er - now that's not a simple one.

I'd guess it's windows or plugin remembering the audio renderer and not updating on change - and it is really a guess:(

All I can suggest is clear down all logs, set logging to debug, repeat the sequence of events and post logs with the sequence and timestamps. Then, fingers crossed:rolleyes:

I am also guessing that it could be Windows not correctly handling this, so if OK I will leave it on hold pending an upgrade to Win 10 in the next week or so to see if that changes anything.
The final solution though may well be when I have saved up enough pennies to buy an AVR and additional speakers to go to 5.1 then use the AVR headphones socket! I'll keep you posted.

Given your looking at Win10 in the near future would agree no value in chasing the mute problem if it's not critical to you. i'm sure people on forum would be interesting to know one way or another if Win10 solves or simply replicates [and then maybe help] the problemso_O

Good luck the Win10 and future AVR purchase [Christmas is comming, you never know:whistle:

I very much doubt the problem has anything to do with Windows. I'm aware of a patch that could be relevant to your situation, but without log files for the latest scenarios you described it's impossible to know if I should recommend it. That's why I tagged your post requesting log files. ;)

OK your wish is my command:D.

Attached are the log files for the following sequence of events and timing I used to reproduce the problem with Online Videos, let me know if you also require it for Radio Time as well.

17:05 :- Start MP and watch TV
17:07 :- Plug in headphones (audio plays on headphones and is muted to speakers)
17:08 Unplug headphones (audio returns to speakers), close TV, open Online Videos
17:09 ;-Select BBC1 Live (in OV) Video plays but no audio
17:10 :- Close Online Videos, Close and restart MP
17:11 :- Select OV/BBC1 Live, plays video and audio
17:12 Close MP and get logs
