Installed Media-Prtoal to watch live TV. I was using WMC7 and within the last month it has become unwatchable from screen freezes and most recently WMC crashes.
After reading up on Media-Portal I figured I'd give it a shot.

Before I started I dis-abled WMC throught he optionalfeatures.exe program.

I installed Media-protal and set-up following the suggestions (wiki?). Unfortunately I get the similiar issues as I had in WMC.

It loads fine a actually looks nicer than WMC but the program crashes after anywhere from 30 min to hours later. I've attached the first three logs, hopefully someone can shed some light on it.

Thanks

The drivers were behind so I update to the newest from the AMD site.

I also confirmed that "EPG Grabbing while idle" is unchecked

Unfortunately it crashed again. Oddly it didn't put the 'error' folder on the desktop

Hi cabo,
I have a similar problem freeze/Stuttering while I'm wathing TV.

I use only MP and I unistalled WMC.

I perfomed another installation with only WMC and no MP and I haven't any problem....

ciao
Andrea

    Hi cabo5150

According to your system event logs, the crash is occurring in nvd3dum.dll:

"11/3/2011 9:04:28 PM";"Application Error";"Application Crashing Events";"Error";"Faulting application name: MediaPortal.exe, version: 1.2.1.0, time stamp: 0x4e7d7278 Faulting module name: nvd3dum.dll, version: 8.17.12.8562, time stamp: 0x4e992849 Exception code: 0xc0000005 Fault offset: 0x006c7bd5 Faulting process id: 0x824 Faulting application start time: 0x01cc9a898960a425 Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\MediaPortal.exe Faulting module path: C:\Windows\system32\nvd3dum.dll Report Id: f1a2a4d7-0680-11e1-b728-001d091510c2";"1000"

That DLL is part of the nVidia graphics driver. Try either upgrading or downgrading those video card drivers.
