Hi there,

I have looked at your further posts and have had a go and giving my server a static ip address, by doing the following:

Clicking on Local Area Connection
Properties
Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)
Properties

I then clicked "Use the following IP address"
IP address: 192.168.1.120
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Default gateway: 192.168.1.1

"Use the following DNS server addresses:
Preferred DNS server: 192.168.1.1
Alternate DNS server: I left blank

I then clicked ok and suddenly got the option to choose 192.166.1.120 in the Streaming Server IP address section:

I think!!!? I have sorted the problem at long last.

Could you possibly confirm that what I have done is ok? Particularly that DNS server number - I have no idea what it should be, I just copied the Default gateway.

Thanks v much

I was having the same problem on 1.2.3 final version and the above worked like a charm.

i used to have the same problem and your idea is correct.
still i would suggest 2 way to over come this issue
first option to set up the router to put a static IP address to the TVserver and in the TV server setup menu rather than putting it on auto choose the static IP and things should work (i am using this option from my side)
second option is to set the static IP in the TV server as what you did before but best is to assign an IP address outside the DHCP range (usally DHCP range starts from 100 till 150 or 200)
for example your router IP is 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 (depending on your router IP address)
with is subnet mask of 255.255.255.0
the DHCP range is 192.168.1.100 till 192.168.1.150 (for 50 users)

hence the static range you can select for your IP address is 192.168.1.2 till 192.168.1.99 with the same subnet mask then on each device you define the IP address of the TV server

one thing i should point out if you use a static IP address from the DHCP range it might give a IP conflict with other devices in the future, hence best is to use the range outside the DHCP range.

    hope these information would help

I also tried all the ipv6 and disabling firewall stuff but none of it worked. For the longest time I have just used the /debugoptions on the clients and using a share to connect to the recordings and timeshift. This is not the perfect solution imho so I now came across this solution/suggestion. Basically I had my IP set statically so the solution for me was just to go to the tvserver streaming setting and select my IP as the server and apply ... suddenly it all works very stable!

    Thanks for this tip! :)

"EDIT" I thought it was working but the issue I'm having is the audo/video pause every 5 minutes or so on the client PC. Any ideas?

I was having the same prob on one of my clients and not on another. Couldn't figure it out so I tried all of the suggestions and it started working:
    1. Set up static IP on tv server
    2. Disable IPv6 on network card on tv server
    3. Add host file mapping on client pc pointing to TV server IP
After doing all that I realized I'd always had a host file mapping on the client that never had problems, so I'm thinking maybe that's all that was needed, but I'm not touching the config again for now since it's all working now. Thanks everyone for the suggestions.

Also, I would like to point out that every time I run my MediaPortal client config program on a client PC it resets the tv server hostname back to the hostname of the client I'm running the confg utility on, which seems like a bug. Once that hostname has been manually set it should really always keep the custom hostname instead of trying to override it with the local hostname every time I run the config tool.
