When you say you are not really on a network, can you explain a bit more, if network is "off" for whatever reason, then recordings will fail , but we can then point you in the direction of a possible fix
HI Ray, I understood a network to be a system of computers attached - I have one eebox that receives wireless broadband from my modem (but yes I have a computer also).......so excuse my lack of knowledge here...so this is a network? Is there a screen shot I should get to show what we have here?
The two recordings last night worked and all I did was change the streaming server to auto yesterday evening. There is a scheduled recording soon this morning (husbands and their bull riding!) so I guess third time lucky? Julie
PS the show did not record this morning - I checked at the time it was recording and the red light was on and the live TV had been paused.....not there...there was a folder for channel 1 created but nothing in it and nothing showing on the recorded TV link - this is very frustrating why it records sometimes and other times not - I did not do anything else as this show had already been scheduled (as had the others last night that did record)
How many tuners do you have? If you only have a single tuner, you can only watch/record one channel at a time. If you paused TV, the tuner will remain locked on that channel, so it will not free the card for recording.
Actually, it isn't quite a simple as this, because for DVB-T, channels are grouped into a mux, and you could watch and record channels on the same mux with a single tuner.
There is an option somewhere in TV server setup to allow live TV to be stopped to allow a recording to start.
yep one tuner and the box is ticked to stop live TV once a recording is being done - sorry I may have used the wrong word here - but the message that comes up is that there is a recording in place Live TV will be paused (well maybe I reading this wrong) - I will try a recording now and then open the media portal and see what the message says
PS OK it says timeshifting stopped due to a scheduled recording. the 'live TV' is in off and then I get a message 'no free card available no TV'.
the recording did not work, despite the fact that the red record button was on, it was not listed as a scheduled recording but listed in the TV streaming......this channel does not come up on the EPG TV guide (in fact very few do), despite the fact that all the actual channels were found in the channel list. So I have scheduled a recording for a channel that does show up on the EPG that will start in 30 mins or so
About your network, was concerned because it is wireless, but that does not show any error in your logs, so I have asked mm our tv guru to have a look as soon as he can.
thanks Ray - so shall I go ahead and follow the wireless directions in the meantime (I have definitely not done that as I thought I needed to only change the IP address but all stopped recording when that was done), Julie
thanks Ray, I have been search as to where to find it - when I follow the instructions, my system cannot locate it - I have searched the search site as well - and the plugins pages - sorry to be a pain here
sorry I mean it cannot find any add legacy hardware - OK have now - and have done as per the directions - I guess we will see soon if that worked.
Nope in fact now nothing records. Last night I was able to record on the station that I have had some success with sometimes - but changed over and followed the instructions to add the legacy hardware and tested it twice this morning on stations that recorded last night and nope nothing. I guess I will try and retrace my steps and undo what I did this morning and just accept that this is not going to work for me
Update - it ended up being my TV tuner - I switched brands and now it works like a dream - cannot get media centre to play fair but MP works fine!
