i have MP 1.0.1 setup on my server, and 1.1 Beta (without SVN) on my client. is this going to be a problem? i didnt really want to upgrade to 1.1 beta on the server as i have everything setup up perfectly and was worried about introdusing bugs with the new version.

I use a similar set up and it works with 1.0.2 (no SVN).
MP TS + MP Client on primary XP PC.
MP Client on secondary PCs and watch TV.
Stable (mostly) with default settings.

Why are you using 1.0.1, isn't that depricated?

as above, i use 1.0.1 on the master because ive got it all set up perfectly and i was worried about getting bugs with the newer release. i might man up and install 1.1 on it tho seeing as you say it works for you.

Correct, and if you installed 1.1.0 beta without svn you also need to set the streaming port (RTSP) in tvserver settings(On your server) to 554(Standard is 0 for some reason)

Can someone please tell me where the above streaming port (RTSP) option is in tv server config?

Thanks.

Edit:

AAAARRGGGHH!! Im pulling my hair out with this now! Please help!

I thought id solved the problem because i remembered that my server pc was set up as a single seat installation :), so i upgraded my server PC to MP1.1 set up as a master, then went back and installed it as a client on top, so that i had TV server running in the background and an MP client setup on the same machine...then i did a fresh install on my laptop with MP1.1 as a client...

When i go into MP config on my client laptop and enter the name of the host TV server though, it causes MP to crash (config hangs when i try to close it, and MP itself refuses to get past 'Loading Windows Plugins' stage on booting up). :(

Uninstalling TV-server/client plugin will make MP work fine (Films, TVSeries, Music, Photos etc), but obviously id like to get TV working as well.

Ive attached my log files, i suspect its got something to do with failing to connect to the server over LAN, but im not really sure. Ive turned my firewall off on both server and client, but it makes no difference.

Anybody got any ideas?

Hi,

I had similar issues and ended up adding the TV server name and IP Address to the hosts file and got in OK, however I'm having issues streaming Live TV and Recordings.

That setting is in the SQL Server Config Manager - correct? I have TCP/IP enabled as a default if that is the case.

Is there anything else that you can think of stopping me watching live TV or recordings?

.... update ...... got it working!!! I see the stream on the streaming clients server now!! I just have a blank screen though?? Any ideas??

correct. if you have that enabled then that is not your issue.

make sure you have all the correct ports open (one of them is port 1433 for mssql - cant remember the other sorry), and that your SQL database is added as an exception in your firewall settings.
