From the log you attached it appears that WebEPG run and completed successfully. There should be a new tvguide.xml in the same folder as xmltv.dtd.

Note that grabbing from the web can take considerable time. In your case it took about 32 minutes and downloaded 176 MB of data. See statistics from your log:
    Code:
    2010-05-16 07:02:34.125000 [Info.][WebEPGGrabber thread]: HTTP Statistics: Site www.imdb.com : Pages 2474 : Bytes 175686608 : Total Time 00:31:53.8593750 : Av. Rate 91.79703 KBps
    2010-05-16 07:02:34.125000 [Info.][WebEPGGrabber thread]: WebEPG: Finished
Also note that WebEPG does not have any visible UI. It runs in the background unattended. While it is working there will be a tvguide-writing.xml which will be renamed to tvguide.xml when WebEPG finishes.

You should now be able to configure XMLTV importer in TV Server.

Yep, the tvguide.xml is there (I guess I didn't see it before because the process was still running when it looked like it had finished).

I followed the remaining steps in the guide. But the EPG data is still not showing up in MP. It seems it's going to try our patience to the bitter end!

As an aside, I've been trying to record a program manually using the scheduler. Everything looks good. The big red dot even shows up in MP while it's supposedly recording. But when it's done there is no output file. I searched the entire portal and found a thread about this exact issue but in 1.1.0 RC2. Should I start a new thread on this issue...or do you have a snappy solution for me on this that you can give me now?

So you started TV Server Configuration and enabled xmltv plugin. Then in xmltv plugin you chose the folder containing tvguide.xml. In Mappings tab when you pressed Load/Refresh

    • did you see your channels on the "Tunning Channel" column?
    • where the channels mapped correctly (Guide channle column)?
    • if not did you map them manually?
    • did you press save afterwards?
After you've done all this, switch to Settings tab and press Import. Wait until import finishes. What results do you get (Total channels imported, Total programs imported)?

If at any point something fails, use Log collector to gather logs and post them here.

Regarding your recording issue it is better that you start another thread on the appropriate support forum.

    Total channels imported: 18
    Total programs imported: 0
    Import status: [nothing]

I clicking the Import button the first time I waited for about 2 hours and there was nothing. Then I started the log collector just before hitting the Import button again but didn't wait long before collecting the log. So in case the log shows that I waited only a very short time, that's why...I didn't see the point of waiting a long time again.

You should use the log collector to collect existing logs.

So what you should do is run TV Server configuration and press Import in xmltv plugin. Wait until the "Total programs imported" stops increasing and then close TV Server configuration. Start Logs Collector and press "Export all currently present logs" (or something to that effect). Post logs here

I see no error in your logs. Please do the following:

    1. Run WebEPG manually to grab a tv guide. Wait until it has finished (you can check either using task manager or wait until tvguide-writing.xml is gone)
    2. Open up SetupTV and grab screen shots of xmltv configuration (Settings and Mappings pages)
    3. Try a manual import in xmltv
    4. Use log collector to gather logs
    5. Post the logs, the screen shots and the tvguide.xml (zip it) here

WebEPG doesn't execute. I check Task Manager immediately upon trying to execute it and there is no task. And now tvguilde.xml is gone, too.

We've been working on this now for two weeks. I think I'm ready to try something else. Thanks for sticking with me so long.

Do you think I would have any better result with MP 1.1? If so, do you recommend I try RC3?

WebEPG shows in TaskManager->Processes but not in Applications.

In 1.1 RC3 things regarding WebEPG are certainly much simpler. In general I find RC3 very stable, and so far only few bugs have been reported. Still, officially, "it should not be used on a production system" (but I use it ;)).

You can give it a try. I think you will find installation and configuration a lot easier, and you can have a look at the wiki to get an idea of what to expect regarding WebEPG.
