show us a log then pleasei tried playing the h.264 movies in windows media player 10, and they worked fine. however, they were extremely choppy and very cpu intensive.
I also use coreAVC for my h264 files. It works very well. My h264 are all in mp4 or mkv containers though.
CoreAVC is the fastest H264 decoder. If you want to see any video container type (as H.264, MP4-AVC aka Nero Digital, Quicktime, etc) even on slow CPU's, you will need to follow next steps:
- Uninstall any codec installed.
- Install 'Media Portal' (if you didn't do it before).
- Install 'Quicktime Alternative' and don't forget to activate 'CoreAVC' and 'CoreAAC' on 'Direcshow filters' when installing.
- Install 'ffdshow' and configure it with 'H.264' codec to 'disabled' (cause we will use 'CoreAVC' instead 'libavcodec')
At the same time, we can put 'libavcodec' for 'SVQ1' and 'SVQ2' to play MOV container files.- Install 'Lazy Man's MKV'. It includes 'VSFilter', neccesary for subtitles, and 'Haali Splitter' (called 'Matroska Splitter' too), neccesary for audio tracks. 'Gabest Splitter' should be uninstalled if it is.
Some times is neccesary to install 'Haali Media Splitter' independently after step 5, but first you must try to play any kind of format from MP.
Don't forget to add '.mp4' and '.hdmov' to your movies extensions in Media Portal Setup.
You can test if subtitles work by pressing 'L' when playing videos with subtitles, as Nero Digital mp4 files.
Nowadays, the unique video format I can't play is '.ratDVD', despite I have installed codec.
Suggestions and critics are wellcome.
Are you using any filter in "ffdshow"? Try hiding all filters if you was using someone.
Could you tell us more info about that video file and your system configuration? You can send us info about video file you are trying to play using "MediaInfo", maybe the best video container information extractor.
Meanwhile, you can try disabling SVQ1 and SVQ3 codecs in "ffdshow" video configuration (step 4) instead of using "libvacodec".
See you later
