How does one prevent the red nag for "older" skins? (1 Viewer)

It took a few launches until I saw the checkbox.

exact, the checkbox came after something like 10 launches

Please remember that the "red nag" screen is there for a purpose. So when you are over coming that thing you shouldnt be posting any bugs for MP1 unless you are able to reproduce those also with the default skin.

Sure would be nice if there was a list of changes so that we could actually address the changes directly without having to regression test everything. Seems like software development 101 to me.

At the beginning there was a email list for interested skinners, but I think there wasnt enough interest (only few skinners who had subscribed to that). Yes, it would be good to have some change list... as a quick fix there is the SVN change history that you can have a look. All changes that effect skinng should be listed there.

Just change in Mediaportal.xml (in the config folder) the line

<entry name="dontshowskinversion">no</entry>

to

<entry name="dontshowskinversion">yes</entry>

Or better still, update the skins so they are current.

There are some very nice older skins that for various reasons the designer can no longer maintain, Foofaraw is one i would like to see updated.

But if no one wants to do this, then they fall by the wayside
