After most of my posts don't get helpful answers I can only conclude that this is a very poor community, asking the same question at doom9 I would probably get more replies, even with only fewest people there using MediaPortal there, most use MPC. Greatest community is maybe at MediaMonkey, it's also maybe the greatest media application. I can only conclude 5+ seconds is normal, there is a general lack of TV related features, there instability and there is excessive memory hunger (MP+TV server + SQL server). Not only are there show stoppers, there are a couple of show stoppers if you make a comparison to the leading TV application DVBViewer, I know one of the reason why they are progressing that fast is they take ideas and maybe even code from open source but the product they offer is absolutely great and the price of 15€ is more than fair.

Well, I finally figured after two weeks reading the forum a lot that there is a internal TV plugin, the setup shows this option only if you disable HD TV, I don't need HD TV as there are little free channels in germany but yet I enabled the option because there might be more channels in the future. This is a major usability issue as it made me believe there is no way around the slow and bloated server stuff.

    Less than 2 seconds

How did you take the time and do you use server or internal?

Well, it seems the internal TV don't seem to support my KNC-1 DVB-C card which uses a BDA driver, was the work on the internal stuff stopped in favor of the slow server stuff?

    With a cell phone timer.

I'm using TV-Server with Mediaportal, both are installed on the same HTPC = standalone setup.

For me it takes under 2 sec to switch channel in the FireDTV viewer that comes with the tv card.
In Mediaportal it is more the double that. Not under 4 sec. This has been the same since the first release I tried almost a year ago.

I am using MP as client connecting to local tv-server.

    I'm using Dvb-t & checked the Tvserver & MP logs, seeing +- 5 seconds

hi migube, is this single\multi seat, my singleseat setup runs between 1-2 secs for channel changes, about 4-6 secs from initial turn on.

    Regards

    Hi Paranoid,

Same server for Tv server & MP.

My dvb-t contains 2 tuners (only one active), I will try another dvb-t stick with only one tuner to see.

I have the impression that internal MP TV was far quicker, and that prev versions of tv server also were quicker (still slower than internal), but not easy for me to get back to older versions to check ...
