Media Portal searched for all possible media files and indexed them but it has missed the folders where i keep most of my music and video files. How can I get media portal to index these folders?? :?:

In Mediaportal setup, you can add "shares". That's the MP keyword for "folder containing media". You'll have to do it in setup/my music and setup/my movies seperately. Afer that, you can consider a database scan (again seperate for the two types) to get MP3 tags and IMDB info respectively. (DB scan is optional, though a good idea in general)

I looked around for the way to add a share, but I could not find it anywhere. I went to settings and my video, but there was nothing about a way to add a share. Any insight?

My problem is that I would like to switch from Kodi to Mediaportal. In Kodi, putting an Extras folder in the same folder as the movie automatically manages all the extras on the Bluray, so my library is organized in this way. Moving everything would be a very long job (I have more than 2800 movies), plus I would lose the Extras...

@Pablik I finally got back to this, and I got it working. What I did was this. I intended to copy the UHD-BR disc to my local hard drive, so I put the disc in the drive, and then brought up MakeMKV. In MakeMKV I went through the initial steps to copy the UHD-BR disc to my drive, and while MakeMKV was parsing the disc, I noticed a...

The only changes I see are: Updated Marcel Groothuis version of the plugin to now support Media Portal 2.5 I can't say anything about the functionality of this plugin, I don't use TV Part, but if there are any changes that can be simply transferred, then I can try. But I can't give any guarantees.

I don't organise my media in the way that you do, so I don't know whether MediaPortal provides the capability that you want. All that I can suggest is that you read this page in the MP Wiki and experiment to see if it will merge the separate folders to give you a unified view of the media. -- from CyberSimian in the UK
