Aw, you got my hopes up but this software only disables the buttons and scroll wheel and doesn't stop MP's menus scrolling when the mouse is moved

Try rebooting, does not scroll here, can move cursor around with no reaction what so ever.

I have rebooted and it still scrolls.

I'm not sure how it could not scroll if the cursor's moving, as MP just seems to scroll or open the right menu when the mouse pointer is moved to certain positions.

I've got all the boxes set to Disable under Layer 1 but they are for mouse buttons, scroll wheel and tilt wheel and there doesn't appear to be anything there that would stop the mouse position making MP react, so I don't know you've managed to achieve that.

I'm using avalon or Defaultwide, using a logitech wireless mouse, if I move it around, it is possible to hover and highlight, but no reaction happens.

Have you changed any mouse defaults in windows I wonder, best bet is put in a request for the xbmc feature of disabling mouse altogether when MP's running, then you will need a remote that does not rely on HID as these can be mouse integrated :(

I'm using StreamedMP, also with a Logitech mouse. I'll see if using DefaultWide makes any difference.

I certainly can't think of any mouse settings that would affect whether MP responds to the mouse cursor position.

I'll put in a feature request as you suggest. Hopefully we can find a way to disable the mouse without disabling the remote. :)

Hey guys, I think we do not need to disable the mouse, we just need to stop reacting to the mouse position on screen... I do find it a bit annoying as well if you have a menu that scrolls on mouse position that still scrolls even if the application is not focused. I guess we should just stop reacting to mouse moves (and stop scrolling) when the app is not focused.

I agree that the mouse cursor being visible isn't a problem, it's just the way that MP's menus scroll/open in response to mouse movements is annoying.

However, I disagree that we only need to stop this happening when MP doesn't have focus, as most of the time on an HTPC (including mine), MP does have focus and I don't want to have to disconnect my mouse to stop MP responding to it and then have to reconnect it if I launch a game or application that I need to use the mouse with.

AW: How to disable mouse in MP?

You can also try "BZHider". It moves the pointer to the upper right, works fine for me on Windows 7 32-bit.

I think any applications that move the mouse to the corner won't stop the cursor being moved by the mouse to somewhere that causes the scrolling again, or if they do lock the mouse I won't be able to use it when I need to.

I just spent some time thinking that MP1.2RC had a bug where the systray Restore/Exit menu didn't work anymore, until I realised it was that X-Mouse Button Control program that Paranoid Delusion suggested that was disabling the mouse from working on the systray menu, which goes to show the problem with trying to use other apps to achieve things that really need to be incorporated into MP.

My wifi mouse has an off switch on the underside to save on battery usage. Functionality returns the instant it's switched back on. Perhaps this is a more hassle free solution to the problem.

    Logitech MK300 series.
