How do I 'gain focus' using IRSS?

I must be missing something obvious since I could not find any posts on this since 2007!

I am using MCE Remote that came with Hauppauge PVR 150 MCE kit. I do not have a separate HTPC so every time I do things on my computer, and then go in the other room to use MP, I have to run back to give MP focus!

In MP Control Plugin, Require Focus is turned on because I don't want the remote to be doing things on my computer when I forget to give MP focus. Hence no buttons will work to gain focus? I have several buttons set in MP Control Plugin to gain focus but I am guessing they don't work because Require Focus is on?

Tray Launcher is set to 'Repeats Focus', so I try to use that key (My TV Button), but it often does not work! During playback it just freezes MP!

How do you guys do this???

Thanks Rekenaar - that works perfectly :)

 Sorry, I shoud have searched ALL forums, not just IRSS!

You really are my MP Guardian Angel aren't you! :D

So now how do I get my TV to turn on at the same time? LOL don't want much do I? But it's not just for me! Everyone is sick of me cursing and throwing things all over the place trying to find the TV Remote just to turn it on! God help me, I hope I don't need yet another plugin!

LOL, I have not tried to turn on TV yet so I can't give advice there.
Guessing that Translater will also be able to help if you have a blaster eye to position in front of TV. Not sure though.

Oh right, DUH. Why do I always miss the obvious? I was thinking I could use HDMI, as that is my connection, but I think my TV Card would have to support HDMI CEC for that! OK, so now I have to try and find another blaster! I only got one with my MCE remote. SIGH!

Maybe first test with your existing blaster (if possible) before you get another one.
I would also be interested in your findings.
    Thanks

Good idea!! Thanks. But easier said than done! it took me ages to get the bloody blaster working! I am terrified to touch it. I think it hates me. All my tech seems to have their own personalities and I am their unwilling slave! And the blaster goes through my wall now so I have to disconnect everything to take it out and move it to the TV. I must have some disease that I make everything so complicated LOL! But now you have put the idea in my head I will have to try it, damn you! So I'll get back to you, but it may take a while! If you never hear from me again it is because my tech all got together and reduced me to a blithering psychotic idiot blubbering in the corner!

Hi Rekanaar - finally got around to testing TV Power On and Off using my MCE Remote (don't forget I have the one that comes with Hauppauge PVR 150 MCE Kit). I used Translator to 'learn' my TV Power button on the IR Commands tab. Then I setup TV_Power on the Programs Tab to Blast TV_Power. I'm not sure if that was the right way to do it. It is not a program after all! But I was not sure where else to do it!

It works perfectly using the test button. I mapped it to the MY TV button on my remote, and that is a bit fussy - it works most of the time but sometimes I have to press the MyTV button a few times! IRSS seems to have trouble with the Extra Buttons on my remote. I cannot manage to map anything to the MyVideos button in MP Control Plugin. I'll keep plugging away at it when I get an extra blaster.

    Cheers!

    rekenaar -
I am using Translater to open MP with my MCE remote green start button.

This is basically also a "gain focus" substitute. Green button returns focus to MP if it is already running.

Is this working for you with MP 1.1.0 RC1? I upgraded to Win7 64 bit and IRSS - Test Build 1.4.2.3344 and now I cannot manage to gain focus no matter what I try with Translator. It was working perfectly in Vista 32 bit with IRSS Test Build 1.4.2.3127. :(
