hi, since I upgraded to rc1, I stopped using Translator. It did work like that before...

I am now using the new tray option in MediaPortal Configuration program (think it is under 3rd party??). Do not currently have access to MP, but please let me know if I should get the exact setting later.

Thx Rekenaar - I tried MPTray - under 3rd Party settings  but it would not gain focus either and I saw no place for settings in it, so yes, let me know when you get a chance later.

    Hi Dadeo :)

    My Configuration:
    1. IRSS only used for blasting to STB (MP Control plugin for IRSS NOT installed)
    2. MCE remote selected in MP Configuration
    3. MPTray selected under 3rd party settings
    4. For THIS test, I disabled "Keep MediaPortal on top"
    5. For THIS test, I disabled "Start in Fullscreen"

The steps I follow and my result:
    A. Open Windows Explorer on HTPC
    B. Press green button on remote - MediaPortal starts
    C. ALT-TAB to switch to Windows Explorer
    D. Press green button again - MediaPortal gains focus

I know your original question was actually related to Translator, but I hope this helps you in some way?

Until recently, I also used Translator without problems. But I think the older MPTray or MPTraymod was also installed then. I do not really want to fiddle on my HTPC at the start of a weekend (kids in charge until Sunday evening) but if you want me to revert back to Translator to test, I can see where to fit it in?

Yes thanks Rekenaar it is very helpful. When I tried MPTray, I think I had MP Control Plugin installed/enabled, so I will try it your way, especially since using MCE Remote I can have my Volume display (the bars when I adjust Volume) visible again :) and also I can get the MyVideos button on my MCE remote configurable (which I could never get to work in MPControlPlugin)

The only reason I can see to use Translator is because I use MP on both my computer screen and my TV almost equally - TV for playback, and computer for skinning/testing/etc. So, I like using command line options to start MP on my TV /screen=2 (or whatever) and /skin="aMPed Wide" . Invariably, when I am finally crashed on my couch, and I click my green button, it starts on the wrong screen and I have to run to my PC to change it, cursing all the way. So do you know any way to use command line options with MPTray? Of course, while I am at my PC I end up clicking to view latest messages/RSS Feeds or something, run back to my couch, get all stretched out and can't get focus back. ARGH! At least I get some exercise! :)

Also, have you ever figured out a way to get the alternate i.e. /fullsplash to display on the TV instead of the main display (i.e. computer monitor)? I realize I am drifting off topic, this is an IRSS thread after all, so let's say I am asking if Translator can do this? :p

    Sounds like the only solution.

Not that I am aware of.

Sorry, have not been using multi-monitor for a loooong time.

If I understand correctly, you have the Translator part under control, but just struggle with the focus part.
I think you should be able to accomplish by combining mptray or mptraymod with translator. Sorry I do not know exactly what you should do and I do not currently have a setup to help you test.
Also some more reading here (sure you already read it, but just in case there is some hints for you):

Yep, you understood me perfectly ;) Interesting idea to run both MPTray and Translator. I tried it and it enabled me to gain focus. But of course MPTray took precedence and I could not use my command line options for start up :(

I did read those threads, but I had missed the latest posts about The Flashing Taskbar! So I tried the registry hack in that thread (about MP not setting focus) and it also solved my problem with Translator. :) I might never have figured that out without you pointing me back there, so thx!

As there is a Mantis issue 2279 on this problem for MPTray, hopefully the fix will solve it for Translator as well. :p

    Hi,

I don't know if this is the right thread, but here it goes:

I used to be able to launch MP by pressing the green button on the remote (not really important for me) AND control MP with the remote even without the focus (I miss that:().

Can't remember the setup but it was some old version of MP and Mptray and probably the driver replacement.

Now I use MP 1.1.0 (which includes Mptray). I tried installing IRSS but no change using it just out of the box (ok I configured my MCE remote and checked some option that seemed to be related to focus, but that was pretty much it)

How can I reproduce the old behaviour? I esentially want the remote to only work on MP, not the rest of the system. I'm already able to regain focus by pressing the green button, but I want the above behaviour.

    Is there a way?

    Thanks in advance.
