Hi,

Is it possible to make a small change.....When manually adding a new title in the video database, is it possible to auto fill in the title with the filename? Saves some typing. Also, have the file filter set to all media file extensions specified in extensions tab, rather than just avis? I add mp4 files now and have to change from avis to mp4 each time I manually add a new movie to the database.

Yes, I included this among many new things.

Concerning install, PI explained how to (it's not difficult as how difficult is to open ZIP file <<Config_files_V1.1.0.zip>> and copy those files from there into specified directory, usually C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal). You just need to backup original files just in case if something goes wrong.

TEST IMDB_WithAKA_Script_for patched files.zip is not needed but it will give you full flawor. This goes to Mp Config directory which depends of operating system (Vista/W7 is usually <<C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\scripts\MovieInfo>>, XP is is hmmm. I forgot but somwhere in Documents & Settings\username...).

Just be aware that those changes are not in any way supported by MP team for now. I use them on my MP live installation without any problem but just be careful if you are not sure what you doing on live system.

Hi,

Copied all files to relevant directories (backed up originals). When I ran MP config and clicked on video database it said "this is the first tie its run....." I clicked ok to accept it updating scripts etc. It got stuck on the "updating media info 1/0" part towards end of update. I waited about 20mins but didnt carry on so I clicked cancel. Everytime I click back on video database I get this message. If I click cancel it lets me continue to the video database.

Also when I create a new movie entry and save it, then click back on it in the database it freezes for about 5-10secs then displays the movie details I clicked on. Is this normall behaviour? Is it taking a long time due to all the extra info its having to load?

P.S. I have a dual core PC so its not slow.

It shouldn't be like that. You can try new configuration (I removed initial download of scripts and one potential slowing point if many movies is in the database - they are not necessary).

If again you have problems just if you can describe in short your running environment (XP or W7/Vista, network client or standalone HTPC, how many movies in database...). Thx in advance for reply.

Tried the new configuration.exe. Thats solved the download scripts issue.

With some experimenting, its because the first default selected actor in my example "All About Steve" is "Beth Grant". She has been in loads of movies and with the actor movies tab selected and when I click on the movie All About Steve, I can see the list being populated and it takes about 10 seconds as she has lots of movies. With other movies where the first actor has been in less movies, there is less delay. I wonder if the first actor should be blank or dont populate the list unless you click on an actors name in that tab?

You can see this delay if I stay on the movie "All About Steve" and then select another actor Carlos Gomez who has also a lot of movies listed. You can see the list getting populated and it takes a few seconds to do it and so everything feels a bit slow.

My system is XP SP3, standalone PC, local internal HDD movies, total movies about 500 (so quite a few). I'm pretty sure the delay might be due to the above rather than my movie collection size.

EDIT: Its definitely this list getting populated that causes the large delay. If I remove the top 3 actors in the list who have been in lots of movies then the delay is gone because the 4th actor has not been in any other movies. The delay is now gone.

I guess this will be a problem for lots of movies where the first listed actor in the actor movies tab has been in lots of othe rmovies. Like I said I wonder if its worth having a blank entry as the first in list or not to populate it until you click on the actor in the list?

Yes, I think you're right. Actors in movies can be very huge list for some actors. I suspected that. I will put -1 index for actors initially so there should be no more delay.

Concerning scripts, on let's say "first load with new patched configuration", it's just updates scripts as standard MP options. Nothing strange was put there. After you close configuration, next time it shouldn't bother you with that. If standard MP "Update grabbers" option works for you without problem, then I have a small problem .

Thx for your observations. I will do changes pronto for actors (it was nice idea, but I was somehow skeptic how that will behave with huge list).

With your original version of configuration.exe, when I close configuration and reopen and click on video database it does keep asking me to update scripts. I think this is because I have to cancel it because it never finishes. With your new configuration.exe above its obviously ok as I dont ever get asked.

I can confirm that with the original standard MP config setup etc the update scripts works. So something has definitely changed with your version.

EDIT: Another idea for large lists.....maybe just load the latest 10 entries for any lists that get populated. If the user scrolls down then load 10 more. Is this easy to do?

that initial update is not so important. It can be done anytime, it's just a feature for the new users.

Concerning actors, i just test All about Steve and I got delay of 1-2 sec. I think the problem lays in size of movie collection and all actors for them. I got around 100 movies and table for actor movies have 80000 entries (and this is a clean table as I removed all old entries and duplicates after I changed actor details fetching method), so for your 500 movies it's huge, and believe me this is not small task for the database.

Your idea to cut off displayed list is how it should be on first place and the only proper way. I will implement that. Thx again.

I have a new question: If i use the tolls to create new thumbnail names will that make the EXISTING thumbnails work in this new version? I have some custom thumbs that I want to keep.

Huh, great, I made stupid mistake when comparing existing movies with actor movie list that escalates with larger movie collection.

Concerning thumbs, tool will only rename existing thumbs jpgs to new naming rule so you don't need to get it again (especially in your case, 500 times ). Custom added covers should work also. And if you ever want to go back to original MP configuration, just downgrade them and everything will be the same as before. Nothing is deleted.

I will put new patched files with some new bug fixes in the first post.
