Just before I start to change something more radical, please test this Config file. I found one flow in actors method. Just to see is this was main weak point. I got almost no delay at all after I changed that.

Thats solved it! Great work :0) I have re-added the actors to "All About Steve" who have very large movie lists and there is no delay what-so-ever :0)

I have a new question: If i use the tolls to create new thumbnail names will that make the EXISTING thumbnails work in this new version? I have some custom thumbs that I want to keep.

Huh, great, I made stupid mistake when comparing existing movies with actor movie list that escalates with larger movie collection.

Concerning thumbs, tool will only rename existing thumbs jpgs to new naming rule so you don't need to get it again (especially in your case, 500 times ). Custom added covers should work also. And if you ever want to go back to original MP configuration, just downgrade them and everything will be the same as before. Nothing is deleted.

I will put new patched files with some new bug fixes in the first post.

You are doing a great job. Even the little thing of allowing me to select mp4 files by default is very welcome. It used to frustrate me that it only viewed AVIs. I always manually add movies to database so you saved me extra clicks :0)

EDIT: Also, I tried the tool to upgrade thumbs. It throws an exception at any movies that have a ":" in the title. If I rename that movie entry by replacing the ":" with a "-" and rerun the thumbs upgrade tool then it continues until the next movie entry which has a ":" in.

Oh yes, that's the one of the first problems I stumbled upon when started this changes especially in fanarts. ":" is forbidden char for filenames so I changed movie fetcher method to replace ":" with "-" in titles. As I converted my collection titles long time ago I forgot about that in renaming tool (oh so many little things to remember...). It's not a big work to do (I will just replace forbidden chars in movie titles and after, do renaming. It's not my choice but almost everything in MP My video section is based on movie title so it's hard work to find solution which is most proper without break anything else outside My Video). Thx again. I will need to update files once more today I think

No need to thank me, I'm doing the easy bit and pointing out problems! ;0) You are doing all the hard work. I prefer to use "-" anyway as I think it looks better in titles. I manually changed the ":" on my titles and all is good :0)

EDIT: Spotted that it seems the first letter is missed off the MPAA rating entry. The new movie entries I create has the "R" missing of the first word "Rated....." Is this because I'm using the standard MP grabber scripts?

EDIT 2: Yes it was because I was using original MP scripts. Your script on post #1 adds "United Kingdom:15" rating to shutter island. So thats handy it gives me the rating for my country :0) GREAT WORK :0)

Yes, you can use without any problem attached new IMDB script with new files where I fixed that with some minor modifications or repair original (really easy if you're skilled with notepad ). Idea for future if you want one?!? lol

Instead of displaying "United Kingdom: 15" Maybe you could borrow the logos used by British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) and refer to the appropriate logo file to display it inside MP. Eg Shutter Island is UK15 so rather than save "United Kingdom: 15" save the filepath of the official Age 15 rating logo? Maybe this would mean a skin change though in order to display it inside MP?

Ah yes, thanks. Is there a way to link a single key press to get to that actor info screen? Eg when I press F3 on a movie title I get the info page up.

I have a desire to link the function key F3 with "info" for any highlighted video,picture, TV osd etc etc (and now actor). I think this is one thing a bit inconsistent in MP. That sometimes its "Y" and sometimes you cant get to info, hence the need for mediatip plugin. I think a common info OSD in MP would make MP feel "more together"

Hugh, logos for rating.
One idea right now on my mind is to put all logos rating for countries in separate folder inside thumbs folder with some naming rule ie Thumbs\MovieRatings\Countries\UK\R15.jpg and so on.....Then while fetching ratings it can be compared aginst that folder and country and put in the database and in the skin afterward. But that also needs intervention in skin engine and skins which is out of my hand. I can only do it in the configuration screen for now.

All in all idea is great but somehow little advanced for current MP state .

Yes, that was also my question. Maybe this just slipped away in engine code because this is now rarely used option and view and my video section was not upgraded for a long time as Moving Pictures took all it's job which is not bad in any way but then why is this section exist at all if it's not needed.

Fully agree to both of you - the rating logos would be a great improvement (although skin changes ere required if a skinner wishes to use them) and F3 should generally open the respective info screen.

Is it possible to integrate the nfo reader Script in this patch to get the changed DB scheme properly filles? To my understanding this would be an alternate grabber (in comparison to the currently used IMDB grabber), right?

What would I have to do to Call a page from a plugin to display "DialogVideoArtistInfo.xml" with Infos from Videodb incl. Thumbs?

If it's not possible to directly call the Artistinfopage - how would I call the "Movieinfopage" (to get to artist Infos)?
