How use WebEPG with Media Portal 1 and TV Server (1 Viewer)

Right although WebEPG-conf now appears to work, and I can filter out all the channels I don't want EPG for and map the ones I do - WebEPG doesn't grab anything...there is no tvguide.xml in the c:\Program Files\.....\xmltv folder - even when I left it overnight.
I thought it might have been because I'd been messing with all the settings, so I removed and deleted all traces of media portal and re-installed last night. I rescanned for my channels in TV Server, deleted all the crap copied the new WebEPG-conf again, and when I launch it - it had all the channels that I'd deleted from the TV Server.
I deleted them again from the WebEPG and set up the mapping again for the channels I wanted, I've only got it set for BBC1-4 and ITV1-4 plus a few others.
I save the list - and I checked it's there still when I go back in - so that seems ok.
I've followed the instructions to the letter and still not getting this TVguide.xml - and I obviously can't import it into TV Server until I have it...
I've googled and looked on forum all morning, and found nothing...
Any ideas?

I'm running Media Portal + TV Server RC1 on Windows XP SP2...
It's a single seat install...
Is there anything else you need?

Update:
I was just looking for log files to attach as Morstar did - (I found them in Documents and Settings/All Users) and there was a log for webepg - it says:
File not found: C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\WebEPG\WebEPG.xml

I actually found the WebEPG.xml file in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\WebEPG

Copied to the above folder - and it looks like webEPG is now writing a file for me

How can I change where WebEPG-conf saves its WebEPG file?

Just thought that I'd update you on my WebEPG experience...
Once I'd got the TVGuide.xml created, and imported it into the XMLTV plugin in TV Server it all worked a treat...
I did have to wait a little while for the import - but I was very impressed with the EPG features.
It excellent infact - being able to search for documentaries, and series etc.
I've already got a schedule sorted - and my pvr will be busy recording for the next few weeks.
Recorded Indiana Jones in HD last night, looks ace =)

I just fixed the support for the TV Server.

It will now import the channels from the database. Try the attached file and test if that fixes the problem.

Hi,

I seem to be having a problem with this updated WebEPG-conf.exe file.I am running Mediaportal and TVServer V1.0.0.0 RC1 both on a single machine. Using the WebEPG-conf.exe included with RC1, I was able to manually setup a couple of channels as a test and generate the TVGuide.xml file using WebEPG.exe. The file generated in:

Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\xmltv

Then with this new WebEPG-conf.exe file, I imported the channels from TVServer and ran Automap, which appeared to populate the channel list correctly.

When I then ran the WebEPG.exe program, it regenerated TVGuide.xml (judging from the file time and date stamp), but still only contained the data for the two test channels I had previously setup.

Assuming I am understanding how it works, the 'save' button in WebEPG-conf.exe should generate a file called WebEPG.xml in folder Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\WebEPG. On my system, this file contains the channel name details of the two test channels I setup in the RC1 WebEPG-conf.exe. Pressing 'Save' in the new WebEPG-conf program does not update this file.

Can anyone let me know where I am going wrong?

Ah, first post and I embarrass myself. I had searched for webepg.xml, and only found the version in

Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\WebEPG

Having re-read Shwan's post, I manually went to

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\WebEPG

And there it was

I guess I had the Windows search settings wrong.

All now appears to be working

I don't know what I'm doing wrong or what's wrong with my installation.

After doing everything like you so well explained, and even changing the WebEPG.xml from one folder to the other, like shwan said, I can't get the webEPG.exe to write a TVGuide.xml with all the information that the WebEPG-confg.exe (the fixed one that I downloaded) has created in this webepg.xml. (I checked that the webepg.xml was written just after saving and closing the webepg-confg.exe)

I'm using the last versions of Media Portal and TV server in Windows Vista.

OK.

I solved it. I had to enter the names of the channels manually. When imported from TVServer it didn't work.

I'm sorry to have asked, because I think I had read something like that, that's to say, when you use the TVserver 3 you have to enter the names manually, but honestly you read so many things that's is not so easy to get everything OK and well configured. For instance, now I got the EPG to work, but when I start Media Portal and click My TV I get a screen that says "On Now" and is empty. I can't change the channels. I'm sure it's a silly thing and I'll try so solve it tomorrow.

I have done all steps up to the last and imported channels and saved the data. I now should press the webEPG.exe program file (the program is only 20kb is that right?) The program just blinks for half a second and nothing more happens. I tried to finf the tvguide.xlm file but is nowhere on the computer. What could I do wrong?

I am having exactly the same problem. as far as i am aware i have the latest everything and vista and when i clikc the webepg it justs blinks for half a second and then nothing happens and no tvguide file is anywhere on my computer.

Same here. webepg config seems to work, but there is no webepg.xml file anywhere. Clicking webepg.exe seems to do nothing.

By the way, it would be helpful to stress that the webepg-conf.exe file has to be in the Program Files > Team Media Portal > MediaPortal folder for it to work. Similarly, it would be nice to have a tip on how to create a TVguide.xml file. All the wiki pages say this is a requirement but nowhere is there a simple instruction on how to do this.

The Latest SVNs and the patched file I posted earlier will write the config (webepg.xml) and output (Tv-guide.xml) files to the "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\" directory. This is a general change and is the correct future location. The next install will make everything line up.

However, if you are using a patched version then there may be some issues. With Webpeg-config.exe writing the file in one place and webepg.exe looking for it in another. As a work aorund try copying these files around or using command line options to set the file locations. (There is also a sticky post in the Webepg forum with command line options)

This is driving me up the wall.

I did a Vista reinstall to get rid of other gremlins I had. Now I'm getting MediaPortal setup again. Webepg-conf runs, and I manually added a couple of channels (because I'm using TVServer), then saved. When opening up webepg-conf again, the channels are there so that worked. Next I ran webepg from the C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\ folder: Windows thinks for a second but nothing happens. I've looked for webepg.xml and TV-guide.xml, but nothing is found on my system. I don't have a "C:\Documents and Settings\" folder in Vista. When I try to create one, Vista throws up a message that all files are being moved to "C:\Users" and Vista deletes the "C:\Documents and Settings\" folder...

I'm a relative novice at Vista, so this could be something trivial that I'm missing.
