How use WebEPG with Media Portal 1 and TV Server (1 Viewer)

Just noticed that the WebEPG log file has been changed (attached). It has data on all my channels and seems to be doing something successfully. However, I stil have no EPG data in MediaPortal and can't find either webepg.xml or tvguide.xml.

The log file sugests it is opening a file at: C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\WebEPG\WebEPG.xml.
It is also looking for WebEPG at C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal and xmltv at C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\xmltv\

Any ideas?

I don't have a "C:\Documents and Settings\" folder in Vista.

C:\Documents and Settings folder doesn’t exist anymore in Vista. It was replaced by the C:\Users and C:\ProgramData. Vista uses symbolic links pointing to these new folders for compatibility reasons

Anyway, webepg.xml and TV-guide.xml are there. I can't tell you now the path because I'm not in face of my Vista with MP installation PC. But I think you should skip the virtual "document and settings" folder and go "all users" etc. Or use the search function in C: with advanced options (including system folders).

I started typing a reply that you were wrong, and then I found the xml files under C:\Users. I still don't trust the search function in Vista... anyway, I got webepg running, and will post a new step-by-step thread whilst this is still fresh in my mind.

The file locations should be:

XP

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Team MediaPortal

Vista

C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal

Which bit are you finding hard.

Overwrite the old WebEPG config with the one above, now open it up, press import with TVServer selected as source, all TV and Radio channels will be imported (personally delete radio channels using remove button.

So you should have above, now select Automap with your country selected.

Now you should have something like this, see the errors, you will need to change these.
Now select BBC One and go to the Channel button on the right, click on the browse button, this will open a new screen showing Web Sites, now expand and select your Country ie. United Kingdom, i slect radiotimes as my source, but its whichever you prefer

I now double click on BBC1 Northwest for my area, now this will show next to BBC ONE in the main config, do not close the small screen, click on next channel BBC TWO and repeat above action.

You need to do this for every channel and then select the save button when completed.

Ok you have the channels within WebEPG, now run the WebEPG.exe, depending on how many channels you have is how long it takes to complete the TVGuide.xml that is produced in the xmltv folder.

Now we have the file (which needs to be in the same folder as the xmltv.dtd file, there on xp, not vista by default)

You need to enable the TVServer config\plugins\xmltv, select the path your TVGuide.xml is in (default is c:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\xmltv), i found had to use a -1 time correction for uk.

Now go to the second page of the xmltv plugin named mappings, click the refresh button, here it will show any errors to your mapping and allow corrections to be made, once done save.
You can now return to the first screen and press the import button.

If you need to set this all up to update automatically then you need the bit in powerscheduler and MP config WebEPG plugin to be co-ordinated.

When you have done all this BACKUP your WebEPG\Channels folder, so hopefully you will not lose these settings on a reinstall.

Ok, I did all that successfully and when I push Import on the XMLTV plugin it says it's successfull and shows that it imported 308 programs, but when I open MediaPortal, I still have no programs listed in the TV Guide.

What do I need to do next?

I have to say, it would be nice if the Manual included all of the steps to get this done, from WebEpg to seeing your programs listed in the TV Guide.

308 programs is quite small, unless you are only running a small test with 1-2 channels and a short time period. My setup with about 20 channels and 7 days of data produces about 12,000 programs. My guess is that your webepg isn't running correctly yet for some reason. Try posting your log.

The manual is only as good as the individual contributions to it. I took some pretty long notes on how to setup webepg as detailed here. You might find this helpful.

WebEPG/xmltv runs without error messages but no data in MP

Hi,

I seem to be experiencing the same thing as boblehmann, although I do not have the information of number of programs at hand, I know the xmltv pluging told me it successfully imported 21 channels.

Before getting this far (i.e. running without error messages) I had the following troubles:

After failing to run the xmltv plugin through the TV Server Configuration ( I later learned that this needed to be done command line for the Swedish server that I was about to use ), I eventually found WebEPG and was again surprised that WebEPG-conf was not included in the MediaPortal Conf. In any case after finding an updated WebEPG-conf.exe which was able to import the channels from the TV Server along with an updated grabber in the forums, I thought everything was clear, and following the steps above showed no errors in any log.

However, to my disappointment - still no EPG data when entering My TV in MP ... Any suggestions? Could it have something to do with language ? I am using Swedish setting for the MP but English would be fine if more stable ...
