OK, confused now.... sound from tv Reciever? explain your setup/computer config a bit more....what sound do you hear? maybe it is your internal PC Speaker?

as for HTPC experience try GeneralUserGuides/HTPC_looknfeel - MediaPortal Wiki Documentation

also there is another GeneralUserGuides/RemoveLogonMessages - MediaPortal Wiki Documentation

I have a Philips 32" LCD TV, so it has its own tv receiver for watching tv. If, from my TV, I switch to HDMI input and HTPC is off, I see a black screen and no sound (normal behaviour); but when I turn on my HTPC, the video shows the boot process, but from the TV speakers I hear the audio from the TV channel I was watching before
then windows starts, the TV audio is stopped and I hear the normal windows' logon music...
before I had another motherboard (Asrock NF7G) and I didn't have this problem. Maybe it's because in this other board (ASUS M2A-VM) HDMI audio comes from SPDIF connector and it needs some windows drivers before it can be enabled

As for HTPC experience, I knew those links and I tried those tips:

GeneralUserGuides/RemoveLogonMessages - MediaPortal Wiki Documentation - this removes only the messages ("Windows is shutting down" etc) but I'd like to change/remove the image too

GeneralUserGuides/HTPC_looknfeel - MediaPortal Wiki Documentation - this regards the boot screen, I've tried it with no luck (windows restarts) - pheraps there's something wrong, I will try again later

    Thanks

Strange, I am assuming the TV has a VGA (DSub) input. What happens if you use this and remove the SPDIF connection? To me it sounds like the TV is producing the undesired sound and not the PC. This is not to say some signals from the boot process may disable the HDMI input for a few seconds and the TV is resorting back to it's internal tuner thus the sound....very strange.

Also I noted that you are sending your sound via the SPDIF connection to the TV?. HDMI also has the ability to send digital sound to the TV.

Does this only happen when you resume or does it happen on a full power up?

TV doesn't have VGA input. And yes, sound is sure coming from TV.
I am using what is the stardand HDMI connection for this Asus board: infact the board comes boundled with an HDMI module which sits in the PCI Expr X16 slot and takes audio from S/PDIF connector on the motherboard.

This problem only happens on a full power up.

I know with my setup with this board, after the bios screen, TV seems to reset and flash a bit (I have Sony 40"LCD 5 years old or so) but it does not revert to the internal tuner card.

I don't think there is much you can do. You could try speaking with Asus/ATI but good luck. There support really is poor. It seems to be based on how many cry the loudest will get thier problem fixed and I don't think the M2A-VM is their highest priority anymore. You could also try phillips, as they may have a firmware upgrade to resolve this issue with your TV.

    - when I resume from S3 standby (suspend to RAM), the pc starts in few seconds, but I have to wait 2-3 minutes for the video to appear on the monitor

Yeah, I get this when I got an iso image mounted with DeamonTools. Solved it by "not mounting isos" anymore :) I just unpack them and click the video_ts.ifo file, it works better for me.
