The case I have has a 240W power supply which easily handles my setup below so not sure I agree with the other posters comment. Also, you are unlikely to be stressing out this system if you are only using it for a media centre PC so I doubt the devices are going to be drawing their maximum wattage from the PSU.

Also, I would check the manufacturers website very carefully for which motherboard layouts are compatibile with your case especially if you are planning on using the PCI riser kit that comes with it.

If you are using a Silverstone 240W power supply there is a HUGE difference between it and most of the ones out there. Just check out reviews and you'll find they are some of the best ones out there and they are capable of exceeding their specs. Use a typical power supply and subtract 40W from the rating and it's a problem.

I sit corrected, did try and find some reviews on the Hiper Media case though at the PSU although of a flimsy construction appears to be quite decent. Saw one test set up on Tom's Hardware with a AMD64 3200+ and all the components that you expect to see in a HTPC and it didn't flag up the PSU as an issue.

Here is the link to it:-

Don't agree with its conclusion. Its based on an assumption that there was no mATX motherboard available with s-video out onboard which at the time of the articles creation there were actually a few.

It looks to me like heat was the major issue for Tom's Hardware. I don't think they even mentioned power once... which makes me wonder if they even considered it. A major oversight if you ask me.

If you look at this 1992 PDF from the AMD website you'll see the sample system power requirements are about 200W. And that's all older/slower components that require less power. The CPU alone takes almost half the required power.

Here's the new one but it doesn't give any sample like the old one:

Do the math on the worksheet. If you are over 200W it could be a problem.
