Installed 1.2 Final, thinking that it would improve things but still the same problem.
I noticed that just by navigating, the cpu usage can go as high as 80% and during playback 50% but if this is a performance issue, would it not happen with all videos?

EDIT: on a celeron s775 336 (2,8Ghz/256KB) with IGP, MP runs fine. Is there that much difference between these cpu's regarding this issue?

Indeed, try a different audio codec.

I would suspect other differences. Are the codec configurations identical? If so, run Filmerit (or similar) on the machine with problems to make sure all codecs are properly registered.

Hi guys, thanks for your ideas.

I tried using ffdshow audio codec with these settings:
MPEG-2 Video decoder: MPC - MPEG-2 video Decoder (Gabest)
H.265 Video decoder: ffdshow DXVA Video Decoder
MPEG / AC3 audio decoder: ffdshow Audio Decoder (was MPC - MPA Decoder Filter)
AAC audio decoder: ffdshow Audio Decoder (was LAV Audio Decoder)
Audio renderer: Default DirectSound Device

Most files (recordings) play fine but with some of them there is a tiny difference.
I tried playing them outside of MP and since SAF 6 was installed, they opened in MPC: same result.
Then I used VLC: also same result.
When playing these files on another system, they are fine.

Is it normal that after uninstalling MP doesn't have any H.264 video and AAC audio decoder?

Could this be some (bios) setting/driver, ...?
According to the system requirements, this system should be ok.
Anything else I can try to pin this down?

can you upload any file somewhere that we can download and test them - perharps, there are problems with some particular files only (bad encoded, who knows..)?

Hi Vasilich, thank you again for suggesting to have a look at a file!
Like you assumed, It seems to be a problem of bad encoded files because watching my recordings - it's a friends' pc - I didn't have a problem.
