It would be nice if such a file:

The martian (2015) (tt3659388).avi

...could automatically be recognized using its IMDB tag. MovingPictures has already implemented it, but not sure if it`s the case for native MePo2?

Sorry for the stupid question.Jjust to understand correctly, if I add the IMDB number into the file name, it will be automatically recognized in MP2?

There are multiple ways tried to identify movies:

1. IMDB number from filename / path
2. MKV tags
3. NFO files
4. Online lookup of movie title / year (TheMovieDatabase.com)

So if any of this ways leads to a result, the movie will be correctly identified

No, existing files will not be renamed.

But inside MP2 GUI you can browse the movies (and series) by their looked up names, independently from file name.
