My HTPC is not connected to the net, so every time I want to update the TV guide, I have to close Media Portal and copy the tvguide.xml file from a USB key using Windows explorer.
Can anyone tell me if it's possible to set up a batch file or something like it to run from within Mediaportal that will copy the file from E:\tvguide.xml to c:\team mediaportal\mediaportal\xmltv\tvguide.xml?

You could setup a batch file to run from MyPrograms could you not? And then go into tv guide and right click on a show and press Import from TV guide.

I would suggest as an other option an autorun.inf at the root of your USB key which would copy the tvguide automatically when you insert it in your HTPC.

    That's an other way.

Btw I would certainly choose the MyPrograms way but you decide :)

In the autorun, or perhaps a batchfile that autorun calls, you could use a command-line like:

    IF EXIST "C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\*.*" copy tvguide.xml "C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\xmltv\"

Note: That should all be on 1 line and assumes the tvguide.xml is in the root folder of your USB key and that MediaPortal is in the default folder (alter the paths on those if necessary).

That will copy the file if the MediaPortal folder exists (and is not empty) but won't if it don't.

i'm going to try my own suggestion and i'll post the contents of my autorun.inf and batch file (that will be most flexible and will give feedback and allow me to do extra things) when i've got it working.

Extra things I will try is to enhance it to make the batch file smart enough to copy the tvguide.xml TO the USB drive from the grabbing computer when you insert in there - so both ways are automated...
