Improving my TV Out (1 Viewer)

Would it be worth it to swap a GF4 TI4200 for a 5200?

I'm running DVI-to-HDMI right now, and if I swtched to the 5200, I'd have to use either the s-video or the VGA.

You do Not want to go from DVI/HDMI to s-video... especially with your TV. You can get a passively cooled AGP GeForce 6200 for $79.

Also, with the onboard GF4 you can't use VMR9 so I believe there is also an improvement in picture quality by ditching overlay mode and moving to VMR9.

I have a GF4 Ti-4200 in one of my boxes and it does VMR9 pretty well.

As I said, I could go with the VGA to the VGA input on my TV, too. But thank you for the link. (Newegg shows some for $60, too!)

My resolution with the Ti4200 is something like 1024x768, but not exactly that- 1176x664, IIRC. I'm using the VGA-VGA agian right now and it's always been fine, just not that super-crisp I'm expecting, which lead to the question.

The FX5200 I have is a dual-VGA + S-Video card with a fan (I could probably mod it to fanless, though)

EDIT TO ADD: In the interest of experimentation, I swapped in the FX5200 and am now running VGA-VGA at 1280x768 and it looks great.
