MediaPortal Version: 1.4.0

Description
I updated a friends pc from 1.3 final to 1.4 final which went without issue until I decided to start mediaportal and make sure all was ok.
Now I can not get past the splash screen as follows -
Capture.PNG
Mediaportal is running behind the splash screen if alt-tab to it, but obviously I can not use it as no input devices have initialised except the mouse, keyboard is not available to use in mepo.

machine specs -
intel Pentium g2020
8 gb ram
Samsung 840 ssd
onboard intel hd graphics
windows 7 x64
lav 0.57.0
onboard audio realtek

all drivers up to date as new system only a fortnight old

Steps to Reproduce:
update from 1.3 final to 1.4 final

uninstalled mediaportal completely and deleted any traces left over.
Installed mediaportal 1.4 final again and configured some basic settings in the client on this single seat setup.
Start mediaportal up and the same problem occurs, wont go past `initialising input devices`
alt tab to the mediaportal running behind and the keyboard and mouse are working fine?
alt tab to the `initialising input devices` splash screen and it takes me to mediaportal front end, only now i cant use the keyboard and mouse.
alt tab back to the client again and keyboard and mouse work again?
all this time the splash screen never goes away?

logs attached again

    Hi there.

Its reporting issues with the audio mixer.

Can you try checking the volume control setting within the MePo config (General\Volume settings)

Also check what devices is set as the default sound device for the OS.

the headphones had been unplugged, did not know this would stop mepo from loading?

    Hi there,

No it shouldn't stop MePo loading.

But if the audio drivers are not playing nicely due to no speakers being present then you can't blame MePo.

What is the default sound device pointing/set to?

I understand what your saying but, if 1.3 final loaded fine and 1.4 final does not, then there must be an issue with mediaportal somewhere right?

speakers are now plugged in but otherwise its the same

    Hi there,

In theory all situations should be correctly handled and not cause exceptions - but that isn't the case.

I'm not sure if anyone else has had this issue?

There has been a lot of code clean-up for the 1.4 release, which could mean that some bad code has been hidden this potential bug for a while. Now the code is cleaned up a lot, it's very well possible that we'll see a couple of bugs stand up ;)

I've never ran into this, but that doesn't mean it isn't a bug. Looking at the logs this seems to happen on initializing BASS engine, and there has been a rework on that part for this release. Maybe @hwahrmann has seen more reports of this or has a clue what to look for?

My thoughts also. Maybe he has a wrong 'Scale' setting in that section?

    Found this in Dxdiag log:
Display Tab 1: No problems found.
Sound Tab 1: No sound card was found. If one is expected, you should install a sound driver provided by the hardware manufacturer.
    Input Tab: No problems found.
    Check the bold part ;)
