IE8 is definitivley not the problem, so most likely the AV software is to blame.

    Hello,

I have the same problem with "no internet connection" during install of mediaportal version 1.02 (from ct) and downloaded 1.1alpha. The interesting thing is, I installed on two other machines on the same network and everything is running smooth. Only the third machine gave the problem. I can ping and tracert "install.team-mediaportal.com...", I can access the internet with everything including even downloading the soft from team-mediaportal.com. I made sure, that all AV and firewall related services are disabled. But: Problem persists with both versions. Any idea? Any help is greatly appreciated. Btw., all machines are different HW, but same Windows XP Sp3 with all relevant updates as mentioned on team-mediaportal.com.

    Best regards
    Paul

I have this problem aswell. It is caused by mp having only very basic proxy support. It reads the proxy settings from ie( same as internet options in control panel), but if you need to put in any kind of authentication, then your screwed. This happens for both the install and the general operation of MP(weather/rss feeds/info grabbers/tv-series/moving pictures or anything else thats uses the internet).

    Hi,

I had the same problem. I fixed it with following:
    1. In internet Explorer go to Internet Options
    2. Click on Connections Tab
    3. LAN Settings button
    4. Uncheck Automatically detect settings
    5. Make sure your proxy server works.. if not, also uncheck Use a proxy server for LAN...

Tried on IE6, but might work on all other versions (IE7, IE8)
