iPhone interface for MediaPortal (iPiMP) - original thread (now closed) (4 Viewers)

Will you get live-tv, music and videos working? or is it not possible? how does it work with orb? there you have live tv on iphone...

It's been a while since I've followed this plugin, since in my case there were some major features missing before I could use it.

I have not read up on the entire thread, so I was hoping someone could give a short answer:

What is the status of:

1) Live Transcoding/Live TV. I don't want a system where I have to transcode everything beforehand in order to watch it. I wan't to be able to start any given recording/file, and then the transcoding will be done on-the-fly.

2) For the Record support.



This is not in any way to sound harsh or take anything away from iPimp. It's an amazing plugin cheezey have built, it's just that it doesn't suit my own very specific needs right now.

I'm planning that after I finish the rewrite of iPiMP to revisit the transcoding function and use the new streaming standards implemented in iPhone OS3 to do transcoding on the fly. Hopefully this will provide live TV, streaming of recordings and even streaming of MediaPortal client movies and music.

Also - once the rewrite is finished I'll be uploading the code to google code, maybe someone will add 4TR support to it. (I don't use it.)

Thanks so much Cheezey for a well supported add-on that brings true value and enjoyment to both iPhone and MP in general...the syngeristic effects each has on each other is awesome!

jonaskp...all it will take is a bit of time...I for one am enjoying the functionality iPimp brings, alongside the convenience of MP Web Interface (sadly, support for this has dropped for 6 months or so )

Would love iPimp to overtake the role of MPWeb completely, so we'd finally have a broad web-based solution for multiple PC/Mac/Linux etc browsers, and the iPhone, and possibly more smart-phone support via third-party add-ons...

The future's bright! Keep up the great work Cheezey!!

Just a short note to say thanks for this wonderful plugin. I set it up so it works at home, and anywhere else I have an internet connection. It is fantastic to be able to schedule recordings wherever I am!

Unable to schedule record

Hi All,

I am loving the mediaportal software & the ipimp plugin. I have installed everything correctly & am able to see the ipimp on my ipod touch with the tv guide, but as soon as I try to set a recording, nothing happens.

Is there anyone here who could tell me where I have gone wrong ?
