Hey,
I was playing around with the inbuilt DVB-IP card of TV-Server. Nice idea as i have German T-Home service and therefore i can watch TV over that. But the stream is not displayed correctly. When i press preview in TV-Config, it opens a white window and every once in a while i hear some audio. When using vlc it works great. Anyone having a similar problem?

I have the same problems with Alice/Hansenet IPTV. For all SD Channels theres no picture and choppy sound. Strange thing is that the new HD Channels from ARD/ZDF are working without problems!

    AW: IPTV not working

    Hi,

I have exactly the same problem. No picture and choppy sound in preview window in TV Server configuration. My isp is Hansenet/Alice, too. As my internet connection is not so fast (<11 mbit) I cannot test the HD channels. All SD channels work in VLC and MPlayer without any problems on the same machine.

I tried MP 1.0.2 with the IPTV plugin, and have the same problem there. After that I did a clean install of RC1 (TV server only). I started TV Server config, went to "Manual Control" and started Timeshift and Record. The logs are fairly small, hope anyone finds something!

I was surprised that the recorded file is corrupted. VLC starts the playback of the file, you can download it at <file removed> . I don't know if it is helpful: I also did a raw copy of the stream a few seconds later with VLC <file removed>.

There are even more people having the same problem in other threads. Is there a problem with rtp streams in MP? If there is anything I can do to find the problem, please let me know. I would really like to get this working.

    :D

    AW: IPTV not working

Did some more testing (with my limited knowledge of dirctshow, streaming media and TV Server of course!). I installed a different DVB-IP card/directshow-filter. As stated in the post of the iptv-plugin (Finally working IP-TV solution for TV Server! - MediaPortal Forum) there is a commercial directshow filter. With that filter I can grab a working mpeg file, but it is still not working in MP.

    Facts:
    • Using the inbuild directshow-filter preview in TVServer shows no picture, sound is choppy. Using "Manual Control" to record the stream creates a corrupted .ts-file
    • Using the elecard directshow-filter on my dev computer (Win XP, SP3, x86): Preview doesn't work (no video, no audio) but the recorded file (using "Manual Control", again), creates a .ts-file that plays perfectly in VLC!!!!
    • Using the elecard directshow-filter the record in "Manual Control" takes ages to start
    • I'm not able to get a picture in MP (there are no codecs installed on the dev machine )
    • Elecard ds-filter doesn't work on my htpc (Win7, x86) :(

    Conclusion:
    • The problem is something in the inbuild ds-filter or
    • the way the TVServer connects the graph to the inbuild ds-filter

    Guess:
    • Pherhaps there is a problem in the inbuild ds-filter with rtp-stream?

I will try to contact mikeyko (he wrote the iptv-plugin), perhaps he can help us.

Would be interesting, if somebody else get this working with the elecard ds-filter.

Same here with T-Home. Signal Level 100%, Signal Quality 100%, but no video and choppy sound. All free channel work fine with vlc on the same pc.
Manual timeshift is working fine but the recordings are choppy

    AW: IPTV not working

I did some testing over the weekend. Hopefully somebody reading this has an idea whats going on:

The problem is the inbuild source directshow filter for iptv. As far as I can see there are two issues.

The rtp header is not removed and so send down the graph included in the ts stream. This can be fixed quite easily and perhaps the demuxer is "clever" enough to recognize that. So, no big deal here.

But the big problem is that a lot of packets are dropped. There is a sequence number included in the rtp header. According to this number about 60-70% of all packets are dropped. This matches with my observations that the .ts-file created with the inbuild source filter is far smaller than the files created with the elecard filter.
Does anybody know why so many packets are dropped from a rtp stream?

    AW: IPTV not working

I added rtp support in the directshow filter. IPTV is now working for me with Hansenet/Alice. It should also work for T-Home or any other provider using rtp for streaming.
It would be good if some people can test the new version. Just replace the file in your Tv-Server directory (perhaps you have to stop the server first, and of course make a backup of your original file). This version is for testing purposes only! I will add some more stuff later, like packet reordering and packet loss detection.

I don't know if this version still works with udp streams. If there is somebody who can test this with udp streams or knows where I can find a stream, please let me know.

    Cheers,

Thx, for the great work so far! SD Channels are working fine on Hansenet/Alice with your version of MPIPTVSource now but the HD Channels don´t work anymore... Is there some workaround for this issue?
