Instead of VLC playing the stream, it transcodes the udp stream on the fly, so the default video player is able to play it. I think it might be a good idea, maybe you could try it and report the results?

I would love to try it, just need the modefied TV engine ;)

I installed MP on my brand new HTPC today (next to Windows MC, man that program sucks! :p) and saw that there is a general option 'play web streams using VMR9' (or something like that). I guess you have to make sure that that is unchecked, otherwise the built in player will try to play the stream. Additionally, you need to specify 'rtsp' as one of the supported protocols.

I don't think you can create something for that that can automatically find the urls (using screenscraping). Anyway, if you can do that, MP can play those streams with its internal player; you don't need the VLC player for that.

Speaking of the VLC plugin; I have decided to separate it from this plugin. I've also created a separate thread for it here.
I'll see if I can make some time to update this plugin too.

    Hi,

I have IPTV here in Holland through UNET.

Does anyone know how to receive these TV streams through my PC?

When I connect my PC it does not get an IP address. Do I have to manual set this IP address?

Or how can I found these things out? Do I for example connect my PC and mediaplayer through a hub and use a network sniffer to see which IP/streams it uses?

Thanks in advance for anyone who can help me.

I am not familiar with this kind of setup. I assume that the Amino can discover RTSP streams using SAP/SDP? Did you have to setup the Amino with a multicast IP address?

    It's just plug and play.
I just hook it up to the TV port (RJ-45) on the 'Residental Gateway' (which connects to the fiber) and to my TV and it is working.

So I guess Unet has pre-programmed it before I received it?
